It was my dad's birthday today, and as a family we normally like to go to Dose to eat because of the reliable food. But however, todays experience was to put it simply, appalling. So first of all we found a park and wandered in. It looked quite busy, but we didn't worry because Mum had made an online reservation for us a couple of days back. After waiting in a queue, we got to the counter, to be greeted by a nice young woman. we then proceeded to ask her about our booking for 12:30pm, after looking at the bookings notebook that they had, she couldn't find our booking. At this point we were quite frustrated and Mum told the woman that she had made the booking online. The woman then went and talked to another woman who was making coffee. The woman making coffee then looked on her phone and nodded to the other woman, she had found our booking. But here lies the problem with this café. Our booking was only on that woman's phone and had obviously not been transferred to the notebook that had the bookings in it. She then told us that there was a booking in the notebook for 1:00pm but not ours. Then we got told that we could wait for a table to come free, this would mean sitting outside for who knows how long in the 8 degree weather waiting for a table. No thank you. Mum asked her why we couldn't just at least wait for a table at the 1:00pm person's table (which should have been our table in the first place). She made up some lame excuse about how these people had booked a "while" ago, when HELLO, so had we. At that point we had all had enough of it and walked straight out of there, before going somewhere else and getting a much better lunch and a table STRAIGHT AWAY. So the moral of the story is: communication with the other staff about bookings, and when you book online with Dose, you should know that it can never really be trusted and they might just give away your table to some other people instead.
Very disappointing Dose, especially on my father's birthday. Happy Birthday...
Read moreWent for a work breakfast and got the bacon eggs benedict plus a walnut maple tea. Best eggs bene I've had! Wish they put more hollandaise on it because wow. Definitely worth the money, it was so filling and wasn't lacking in bacon or spinach. The tea was really good but I only got maybe 3 cups max from the pot? I'm used to getting more than that at tea places. Overall, it was delicious and would go in again for a treat.
When I went back, they had one person at the counter doing orders AND making the drinks and one other person running the food plus clearing tables. For a busy and popular place, this was unexpected. Our drinks came after we finished our food and my $8 or $9 Belgian hot chocolate was disgusting. I didn't finish it. All I could taste is the cornflour from the chocolate syrup that they drowned the hot chocolate in. Was a disappointing visit after my great...

Ordered a coffee with the Big Dose Breakfast. The coffee was mediocre at best. I didn't enjoy it. I had to load it with sugar to make it more palatable. The breakfast was relatively tasty. It was filling and I enjoyed several of the items on the plate. While drinking from the water glass, I could smell something destinctly like raw egg...
The menus need to be checked for dirt and stains. Some at my table were well used and dirty. There was also a piece of (what looked like) old candy in the box with the salt and pepper... I might come again for the food but certainly not for the coffee.
The staff seem...
