Peppers Clearwater really blew us away. We booked a Lakeview Suite through an Accor Plus More Escapes deal that came with breakfast, a three-course dinner, and a cheese platter with a bottle of wine – such great value. The suite itself was gorgeous, the perfect spot to unwind and recharge. Sitting out on the deck watching the ducks and swans glide by, with the sun setting over the lake, was just magic. The staff made the stay even better – both the bar and restaurant teams went out of their way to make sure we had a great time. Dinner was a real highlight: duck salad and grilled scallops to start, then fish and lamb for mains, and tiramisu plus panna cotta for dessert. Every dish was spot on. Breakfast the next morning was à la carte with excellent barista-made soy lattes, and I have to say, the eggs benedict was the best I’ve ever had. We were lucky with the spring weather too, and enjoyed our cheese platter and wine out on the deck in the sunshine – pure bliss. The little touches also made a difference, like being able to do a load of washing and plug in our rented Tesla overnight in the garage. We honestly couldn’t recommend Clearwater more. Huge thanks to all the staff for making us feel so welcome and completely spoiled.

We had a problem with our booking upon arrival after having driven for 6 hrs from Picton ferry. Turned out we had booked wrong dates; the booking agent wasn’t available on the phone. Though it was a 3rd party company, the hotel staff helped us to contact them, changed the dates, so we didn’t end up paying twice as much for the same room AND having two rooms booked. We’re frequent hotel stayers, we like to choose not just random hotels, but places with a character. Weirdly I hardly remember more than two hotels we stayed in. Indeed it is the staff’s attitude and approach that makes your stay special. I’m sure we will remember Peppers Clearwater for the feeing of safety their staff gave us. No need to mention exceptionally clean and cosy rooms, fully equipped with all appliances a couple with a baby might need, all plug ins where you need them, all lights are soft and switches where you need them; delicious dinner by the fire and hearty breakfast with a frosty lake view.

Beautiful accommodation, lovely staff. Rooms were immaculate, spacious and modern, we stayed 2 nights and loved it. Unfortunately the restaurant was fully booked so we couldn't go for dinner but did have a few drinks in the bar, which were reasonably priced, the view looks out over the golf course. King size bed was comfortable, shower pressure was really good there were cooking facilities for us to use. It's a long way out of town, 25 minutes by Uber which cost $30 each way so be prepared and allow time if you need to be somewhere. Otherwise you could just stay at the resort and chill, walk around the lakes and enjoy the area. Undercover parking provided. Balcony to sit out and enjoy the lake view from your room and room service is also available. No shops nearby, so good idea to grab any essentials you need before you get there, they do supply tea coffee etc and a there is a minibar bar.

A beautiful resort with very average service. Upon checking, it took awhile until their shuttle became available. Got drop off to the apartment, tried to open the door, both swipe cards didnot work, tried to log in to wifi, wifi password didnot work either. Rang reception, The supervisor got called to get these resolved. As the apartment was right next door to a construction site, straight away experienced noise from drilling, banging, etc. I made a booking via phone and I was not advised of the construction situation. Not to mention, spiderwebs was noticeable on the ceiling, dust on lamp, the bed was uncomfortable. Rang the reception the second time, moved to a different apartment. The staff was lovely enough to apologize and help to move apartment. The second apartment was found in better cleaning condition, but Cigarette butt was left by the door, spiderwebs in the doors, old item (clothes?) was left on one of the outdoor chairs. Everything else inside the bedroom, lounge, bathroom was nice and comfortable. The apartment did not have a mini bar facility.

Dinner at their restaurant was nice. Staff was lovely, scanned vaccination pass. Ordered 2 meals of fish, the salmon one was overcooked. The next morning, when back to the restaurant for breakfast, receptionist again asked for vaccination pass, one of us forgot to bring cellphone. Me: “we scanned in last night”(the restaurant got a list of record of names and apartment/room number, and you need you sign after your meal, so they can charge to your room), the receptionist man with attitude in his voice said: “but I was not here last night”. So I went all the way back to the room to get the phone. It would be a better customer service if he could have said :” due to the regulations, we are not allowed to bla bla bla, we apologise for the inconvenience”. And as they have their shuttle service, it might have been easier if he could offer to a lift to the apartment. I absolutely understand that he did the right thing by asking for the vaccination passport, but his approach and attitude were unnecessary and disrespectful towards their guests.

I was planning to extend our stay until the weekends but the cost and the service were not aligned. So I booked a different hotel which is a lower rating but turned out much cleaner. P/S: The breakfast in the restaurant was delicious, the waiter was very nice.

I travel for work around the country very often, and this is the first time I really concern about it cleanness and customer service. A beautiful resort that got some aspects to improve.

I would have to carefully consider if I will return to...

I could write a novel on my disappointment with this faculty and it’s operational staff, however I’ll be brief. We stayed in two rooms over two night as we booked on two different occasions. We had no problem with moving rooms as it was our error.

We stayed in the lakeview suite and the king room. The suite is huge, great views but very tired/ worn as was the king room. Faulty shower head, mould in bathrooms, water damage to lamps and sub par heating. Both rooms had split air conditioners that couldn’t heat the room to a comfortable temperature.

The male receptionist had attitude and tone which was really the icing on the cake for our already meh experience. Our king room we moved into was wall to wall with construction next door, I mean concrete cutting. It was absolutely unbearable and the male receptionist was quite dismissive and said these things happen and we need to do upgrades, “I don’t know what to tell you”. Being in the industry, I know a room move would have been the best solution for this problem. I didn’t demand or ask as I feel it should have been offered when highlighting the issues with the room. I proceeded to ask about check out, being an Accor plus we are entitled to a late check out. He told me 10am was check out, to which I replied that we should be entitled to a late check out being an Accor plus member. He proceeded to shout from his desk across reception that “your not Accor plus” with tone. After I proved this by showing my card, he turned to his colleague and implied that someone else messed up and that my profile needed the right info, taking his frustrations out on her after getting it wrong.

This male receptionist needs to reconsider working in the industry if he can demeaningly treat customers in such a way and staff with no provocations.

Such a shame as this resort has so much potential.

I will note that I was offered upgrades and room moves but only after I took the complaint higher about this man’s attitude....

During our recent stay at Peppers Clearwater, we were thoroughly impressed by the quality and service provided. From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and well taken care of. Our Lakeside Villa exceeded our expectations, offering spacious and immaculately clean accommodations. The peaceful atmosphere added to the overall charm of the resort.

As Accor members, we were delighted to enjoy complimentary breakfasts. What amazed us even more was that, on two occasions, we were able to have breakfast delivered to our room at no extra charge. Unlike other hotels, there was no additional fee for room service breakfast at Peppers Clearwater, allowing us to savor the delicious breakfast options without any added expenses.

Impressed by our experience, we decided to invite our family to join us for dinner at the hotel. We were blown away by the exceptional quality and generous portions of the meals. The culinary experience was truly memorable, leaving our taste buds satisfied and our guests impressed.

Our positive experience extended beyond Peppers Clearwater itself. As part of our holiday, we also stayed at Peppers in Lake Tekapo and Queenstown, and we can confidently say that Peppers as a brand has become a favorite of ours. The consistent level of excellence in service and amenities across their properties is commendable.

Overall, our time at Peppers Clearwater was nothing short of exceptional. We wholeheartedly recommend this resort to anyone seeking a peaceful retreat with top-notch accommodations, complimentary breakfasts and outstanding dining experiences. Peppers Clearwater has definitely won us over as loyal customers, and we look forward to our next...
