Grrr, my review of this place just dropped to two stars from 5, as there were dark dirty marks at the pillow end of the bed cover, until then partially covered by a cushion. The brown taffeta quilt folded at the foot of the bed had what looked like dried white body fluid in one area. I tried to find the guest information folder for the number to ring reception but none in the room. I had to get dressed & go to reception to search for an after hours contact & it took my third attempt before finally yielding success. The man who answered the phone was the same one who had checked me in early that afternoon, it seems there were no night staff! I was told it was very late (by this time it was after midnight) why was I ringing now. He came to my room, removed the soiled articles & said he'd replace them in the morning, then asked what was I doing up this late, had I been out on the town? I told him I'd only just seen the dirt as just turned the bed down & I would NOT SLEEP IN A BED THAT SOILED. Luckily he returned with a clean bed cover, still angry with me. It was none of his business what time I choose to retire to bed, I certainly had not been out on the town, merely talking to my husband in Australia as I do every evening. The staff members rudeness was in stark contrast to his warm welcome earlier that day which partially contributed to my initial high ranking now reduced. I was told the white marks was caused by starch however since when is a padded quilt starched?
I ended up sleeping in the chair with a pillow on the coffee table for my feet and a small cover from the car to...
Read moreVery poor experience. At the time of booking, the first nights stay was immediately taken from my credit card. Then before our trip, my husband was called up for hand surgery, and we needed to change our plans. When I contacted the Gateway, to cancel the booking, we were unable to get the $160 refunded. I have never come across this before. So when we did get to rebook, we stayed just one night at the Gateway, and the other nights elsewhere .And so glad we did.|This was the worst place we have ever stayed. The outside looks totally unkempt and uncared for|Reception hours are 2pm till 5pm...only .But no-one at reception at 2.15 and had to ring.|Then.. there is notrestaurant and bar. The big sign at roadway should be removed. So the nearest dining was about 1.5 kms down the road, and it was pouring with rain.|Decor is outdated.|No Sky TV channels.|Milk in fridge was past use by date.|Bodywash container in shower pump was broken.|The microwave cord did not reach the plug, without pulling the shelf out, and have it balancing precariously.|Could hear room next door having shower at 9.30pm.|Then when we went to bed, there was a light in the kitchenette, that could not be turned off, and it flickered all night long, so intense you could still see it with eyes shut.|So...on the plus side, the bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was nice and clean.|But value for money, and comfort, I cannot...
Read moreBurglars entered our room with a room key that they had uplifted from an unsecure area in Reception at 4.50am on the second night of our 3-night stay. When we made a complaint that someone had entered our room, Management tried to blame us, saying we had left our door unlocked, despite us telling them that they had used a key to unlock the door! When we insisted that they check CCTV, sure enough, two women were seen unlocking and trying to enter our room! Management was more concerned that their stock was missing than the potential physical threat to us and other guests. We requested a refund of our disrupted 2nd night & also our 3rd night that we had booked as we now felt unsafe to stay there. Management has refused to refund the 2nd night and instead offered a 'free' night on another occasion. There is absolutely no way that we will ever stay at this motel again. STAY AT...
