Solway Fish & Chips — Restaurant in Masterton

Went in for the first time today, a small shop this a fairly long menu. I just ordered a small meal for 2, fish & chips, the chips were amazingly well cooked, really lovely and absolutely no oily taste to them, delicious. The fish was a good size, and the batter was probably THE BEST i've ever had from a kiwi Fish & Chip shop, very cripy, dark, and delicious. I didn't order any specific piece of fish, so I assume i got whatever was the cheapest, that was a mistake, it wasn't great, but i think that was more to do with just that type of fish - think mushy like that SeaLord rubbish. Next time i would be sure to order a better quality of piece of fish, but you sure cannot fault the chips and the batter, excellent. Also, they were very quick, food ready in about 8 minutes. FIVE STARS FOR THIS SHOP First time here tonight to Solway Seafood & Fish and Chips. WHAT A GREAT FIND in Masterton! The chips were a good grade potato and cooked to perfection in CLEAN oil. The egg burger was excellent - good bun, tasty meat patty, fresh crispy lettuce, fresh tomato, onion and beetroot. New owners, HUGE improvement. One small negative - I hate when people touch their hair while handling food. That aside. Fish was good size, tasty and nicely cooked. Chips were perfect. And OMG, finally someone who understands what a Hawaiian burger is! (not just a pineapple ring added!) Will be going back to try more of...
