Certainly not a place I would recommend eating. We had such a mixed bag it's hard to explain, kids ordered spaghetti Bolognese and 1 dish was literally half in propotion to the other with neither kid finishing their meal. For the adults I had lamb that they tried preparing as a gourmet meal, the portion was ridiculously small and had no flavor, partner had eggplant cannelloni that was 5 thin slices of eggplant wrapped around mushroom sauce, it was barely enough for a starter... Just terrible based on the price. Others had fish and chips, servings were MASSIVE but again for was not a great flavor. They're not sure if they are going for a gourmet experience or a gluttonous one, in either case they fail on flavour. My picture is of my cheese cake dessert, it literally was like someone had scooped a spoon size portion, poor taste, poor size, poor price. $300 bill where we felt robbed. Spend your money elsewhere, presentation does not make a meal.

Heard good things about the experience at The Grill. Sadly left underwhelmed by the fare offered. Ordered seared scallops to start and while tasty, the size was miniscule. 4 scallops and 3 pieces of chorizo sausage. Sirloin steak, baked potato and garden vegetables for mains. 2 carrots and 2 florets of broccoli, luke warm and bland. Steak was ordered blue to rare but arrived medium rare. Suffice to say was left feeling hungry despite the offering. Would like to say that it was worthwhile but feel improvement could be made. Considering the status that the Copthorne has, sadly I won't return and hesitate to recommend

Went for dinner with my mum. Food was amazing, we both had pork and it was so tender and delicious. Parmesan hash for starters and banoffe for dessert were also yum. The best part of the experience was the service. Briana looked after us so well and we felt right at home because of her.

Booked for New Years Eve wanting to have a lovely meal and drinks as we have been a few times before. Only to find the menu was the "all day menu". So pizzas or fish and chips mains basically!! There was a steak - but it had to be cooked only one way - why we have no idea so why put it on? There were as many staff as customers so that didn't surprise us. We ordered a few entrees to see how they wld go. They were all tasteless and the dumplings were just awful. No filling and thick chewy stodgy casings. We cldnt even eat them! The staff were lovely - our waitress was really good. We had to swap chairs when we first arrived as one had a broken back and the other only one side in the seat!! It wld have been good if we were advised when we booked that it wldnt be the normal night menu!!! The place itself is amazing and shld be buzzing!!! This is not any staff error- just plain bad management!! It needs a complete change and this place just might go back to what it was a few years back!! We'll never get the Homestead or the great restaurant that was in there back - but please do something to save this Solway Park restaurant and get it back to...

Very dissatisfied with the buffet breakfast for the price $27.50 For some very bland scrambled eggs Sausages and diced potatoes with no seasoning that gave the appearance like they had been in the warmer all day shriveled in appearance The bacon was drowning in a pool of oil And dry in texture No grilled tomatoes a must with a cooked breakfast I grew up in Masterton as a youngster and worked in the restaurant for a few years and cooked the breakfast menu and prepped the lunch menu for the chef Back in the day mushrooms and deviled kidneys to name a few I went back the following morning hoping this was a one off experience but Unfortunately the same both juice dispenser’s were boarder line empty And this was 7.00am and I was the only person in the restaurant I spent a few minutes adjusting the toaster settings This was a standard procedure checking the toaster was operating One would normally have the juices topped up and the breakfast station fully prepped before the guests arrive for breakfast My stay was for six nights I ventured into town for breakfast for the duration of my stay Give the breakfast a miss you well only be...

I came here on the off chance that it had improved after a year, I was sorely mistaken...we decided to order 3 courses right from the start including cocktails and a bottle of their pricier Pinot noir, only to have our entrees arrive before our drinks (if we wanted fast food we would gone to a drivethrough like McDonald's), so not even time enough to have our cocktails, before we got time to enjoy our lovely wine with our meals. And then to make matters worse the kitchen decided to send our mains when we hadn't even finished entrees.....when they arrived I said to the the waitress we weren't ready (anyone could tell, our table hadn't been cleared at this stage) to which she took them back to the kitchen and instead of discarding them they let them sit underneath heat lamps letting fish go dry, salad wilting and mash turning stone cold all of which the kitchen thought was fine to re-serve...and it was a slow Saturday evening...no questions as to why, not a place I'd revisit or recommend...in reality -1star out of...
