We enjoyed our stay at Masterton Motor Lodge. It's conveniently located off the main road. The grounds are spacious, and the rooms adequate. The kitchen is functional. We stayed in a two bed one bath. Our hosts were friendly and very patient with a last minute request to print and scan documents late one night. It's possible to have a cookout, play lawn tennis (racquets and balls provided), volleyball, swim (towels provided) and a few other activities. The on-site restaurant provides dine in or room service. The free wifi is unlimited, although during our stay we did have some trouble staying connected. We were assured that this is just a once off. For example, during conferences many people connect with no issues. Free DIY Laundry facilities are available. However, the washing machine does take a long time. We will stay here again though. Read moreReception staff are very friendly and the rooms are okay though they did charge extra for a bed that was already in there. The restaurant is horrendously expensive and the food is dry and boring, a simple can of Coke sets you back by $8. We were told of free WiFi but it is unusable, the connection signal drops to zero after you connect to it and only has a few KBPS of download speed, so don't go expecting that you'll be able to check your email. If you're not out of your room by 8am they won't clean or restock basic toiletries, so make sure you're either up and out or that you have a spare towel with you. But that might not apply to you as they will wake you up when they come to collect the breakfast tray you never ordered, maybe they should write down who ordered breakfast instead of door knocking? The only reason why this motel gets 2 stars and not 1 is because the room itself is cheap and the receptionist is very nice...
