It's obvious this cafe has a preferred "type" of customer - and me and my family are definitely not it! There are no warm pleasantries for our "type" from the very moment you walk in. And this is even before you mention the word takeaway! There is no understanding towards your need to feed your children quickly before making it in time for the boat tour. I'm genuinely sorry that we asked for takeaway pies and ended up eating it on site instead as my children were hungry - we only had 15 minutes. I understand this makes you angry, I appreciate you using your words to explain this to me. Afterall, words are easier to understand than actioned nastiness. I'm so sorry for asking for some sugar for my coffee - I probably deserved the rude rebuttal you gave me asking did I not see the sugar on the table (afterall, I do have slanted eyes) and no, there wasn't any sugar on the table. I'm so sorry for coming in to ask for a teaspoon to spoon the sugar into my coffee. I didn't know any other way to do it. I do appreciate you mumbling as I walk out "how's the coffee going?" and for my 7 year old to hear it. Thank you for checking in, however I did wonder for a split second whether my coffee contained your spit. I am sad we had to leave and could not stay to enjoy it. I am very thankful to you for explaining that this behaviour we were receiving from this particular staff member was due to it being your busy Christmas season. I understand she may be tired having to serve 3 tables and will gladly take any ill-treatment from her as long as it helps her feel better. I hope it did! I wish you all the success and joy in this coming busy silly season. I hope you receive all that you so...
Read moreThe Eggcentric certainly is quirky. Mostly in a good way, which is why we decided to come back this year. Unfortunately, this year, that alone was not enough to cover for some of the letdowns we encountered. As a group of 3, we all ordered one after the other but the last group had a wait time of 20 minutes after we had completed our full meals. A order for a piece of their “famous” carrot cake was followed up 5 minutes later saying the piece that was ordered from the counter had already been sold. My daughter was hanging out to try this as and we had come specifically for it. She was very disappointed. I understand that they can sell out of product, but why have sold food items in the cabinet where you pay for it (with surcharge) to only find out later that the items in there are not actually for sale. A refund was given for the item price but the surcharge was not refunded. Ultimately as a group, it wasn’t a great experience this time round. The usually busy eggcentric wasn’t even that busy. The food is generally good at times, I just hope they can optimise their processes to ensure uniform delivery for groups and product purchases to decrease chances of poor dining...
Read moreA long overdue review for our fav place for brunch most weekends! A clear winner in the following coromandel peninsula cafe categories; Local fish meal (including dealing with dietary restrictions), karage chicken, coffee, ice cream/gelato (gluten free/ vegan coconut bounty is a must try for anyone) cakes (carrot & choc are infamous) pies (homemade & next level) - & that’s only what we’ve tried from the menu so far. Service - owners & staff are all amazing, super chill vibe & toddler loves the playground/park out the back where we sit at one of the tables under the trees surrounded by the gardens (paradise much?). Special shout out to Lenny the dog for befriending my toddler who otherwise wouldn’t like dogs. Thanks also to the team for making us feel like part of the family (or furniture?!). Regardless we are in no way affiliated & I’m a very picky eater to say the least. This is the place to go but just don’t take my table...
