Fantail B&B — Hotel in North Island

What a fantastic place to stay! It was my first visit to Tairua and I am so glad that we booked this place as it turns out to be the highlight of our Easter Long Weekend holiday!

Cleanness & Room Quality: I have a background in luxury hotel services, and this place has exceeded my expectations. We booked the room with a sea view and it comes with a separate lounge on the second floor of the house, you only share the entryway with the host and the rest of the stay is all 100% private and exclusive to yourself. The shower, room, lounge, and the balcony as you walk out from the bedroom are all extremely clean. The photos you see on the website are a bit outdated as the hosts mentioned they always find ways to clean and renovate the house so everything is its best quality!

Room Amenities: Linen, shower amenities including hand soap, shower gel, shampoo, and conditioner, as well as the hairdryer are all available. There is also a small tea and coffee room inside the guest area for you to use including a microwave and fridge. No cooking facility available in the guest room but it has got everything else you need for a comfy stay! There is a cute little lounge with a TV and the multiple electronic candles have caught our eyes!

Location: It is located up and hidden halfway on the hill but it is a very identical house. Parking may be available in front of the garage. You are literally on the bottom of the lookout of the Mt Pack Summit, it is nice to go for a morning walk.

Breakfast: Our breakfast includes a nicely presented granola with mixed berries and yogurt. Some freshly homemade brown break and eggs. We were amazed by the grilled tomatoes and got to know they were baked in the oven for over 1.5 hours before they were served! Tea and filter coffee are the best to go with such a great breakfast, with a view of the ocean.

Host: Last but not least, we would like to thank the host Klass, (we did not spend much time talking to his wife as she is always out for different types of exercise). Klass, you have been a great host, not only giving us full privacy but also making our stay comfortable by checking on us every time when you had a chance, we enjoyed the morning conversations and the stories we shared with each other.

My wife and I had the pleasure of staying with Klaas and Annetta on Christmas day this year. In a very thoughtful gesture, they offered to make a delicious New Zealand dinner for us, since all restaurants in the area are closed on Christmas day. We accepted the offer, and we were surely glad we did. The food was excellent, and we really enjoyed getting to know Klaas and Annetta over our meal and a few glasses of local wine.

Communication was great leading up to our stay, and the place was very easy to find via Google maps and Klaas' additional instructions. Upon arrival, we were greeted and given a tour of the clean, comfortable accomodations that made up the upstairs of the residence. The most outstanding feature of the room was certainly the private balcony and amazing views! We also enjoyed the short ~15 minute hike up to the summit of Mt. Paku right from the front door of the B&B.

While they have only been open for a short period of time, they operated like seasoned professionals, and would surely be an excellent selection for anyone traveling through the area.

We stayed there nights in the Tui suite, comprising bedroom, comfortable lounge area, luggage area, large bathroom & terrace. It was all very clean, modern & comfortable, in fact, perfect. The views are totally stunning. |Breakfast is really something special starting with fruit juice, tasty berries with yogurt, followed by home made bread, fresh coffee & what ever combo of eggs, bacon, mushrooms & tomatoes you could desire, all totally delicious. This is enhanced by the view over the ocean from the breakfast table. |Klaas could not have been more welcoming or helpful throughout our stay. He helped with our luggage, he made great suggestions for where to visit in the day time, he suggested where to eat & even gave us a lift to/ from the restaurants! |To sum up, Fantail is a wonderful place to stay, with great hosts who provide a relaxed & friendly atmosphere, we have no hesitation in thoroughly recommending anyone to stay.
