A fantastic view to be had at the top. Well worth the climb. We walked from the Old Mill Cafe rather than drive, making use of the various walkway "shortcuts" on the way up. The climb up the peak itself is picturesque but a little muddy after rain. The last 50 metres is very steep and will give those who suffer from vertigo a run for their money. The summit has stunning 300 degree views of Tairua, the estuary and the ocean, however it's not an unobstructed 360 degree view. There are, surprisingly, no guard rails at the top, so supervision of children is key since there are rather precipitous drops on 3 sides. There is a car park not far from the base of the peak, and there is a drop off cul de sac right at the base. Sturdy walking shoes are a must, and care when taking photos at the summit. There are a number of interesting historical plaques with photos and text along the way to enhance the experience. The track is very narrow in places so passing groups going the opposite direction is common and requires courtesy and an amount of "stepping aside”. Note that the walk is very popular and the summit can...

PROS, - CONS and • Information

Stunning view. Worth it only if you're in the area anyway and feel like a short walk. 🌄🌊 Car park has lots of space 🅿️ At the car park, which is clearly indicated there is a playground, some shade to sit in and picnic tables 🚸🕶️🧺 Signs with information about the location ℹ️ 2pm on a Wednesday only two other people 🚶

No cover at the top to enjoy the view. Wear sunscreen, especially in summer 🌞 No shade to park in. The car will be hot when you come back. I cracked my windows open a little which helped a lot.🌡️

• I have moderate fitness. I powered through the uphill which took me 9 minutes to climb up. Down I enjoyed the views which took me 12 minutes back to the car park. Total walking time: 21 minutes. ⏱️ • Sign at the carpark says it's a 45 minute return walk 🕐 • Walk is half covered half in sun 🌲☀️ • No need to bring water, just drink enough...

Park at the Motuhoa Road playpark and walk up to the walkway entrance. The track is about 15 minutes but rises steeply up to the summit with some rock clambering at the end to reach the trig point. Definitely not a walk for mobility challenged walkers or small children. Partial views of Tairua, Pauanui, and the open ocean along the way. At the top, expansive views South across Pauanui beach and out to Mayor Island. You can also do a loop walk following Motuhoa Road around from the playpark, ignore the private property signs and use the track to link to Oceana Heights on the North side of Paku before linking again to Motuhoa Road and back up to...

Très raide mais très court ! Aller jusqu’au sommet à été très satisfaisant et la vue d’en haut en vaut la peine !
