Jack & Di's Lakefront Motel and Lodge — Hotel in North Island

Had a very interesting experience with these people. On one hand, they were up front with their policy and then were very nice to bend that policy when we were unable to attend our event due to illness over Christmas holidays. The reality of that time of year meant we had to book two nights at premium rates. We received a credit for the future. We thanked them for that. HOWEVER when we returned after the peak time we were not greeted by anyone, and our keys were under a mat, and we were left to fend for ourselves. The room was dated yet clean. The musty smell on the other hand was terrible, and with no one around to talk to, we decided to leave the motel because of my wife's asthma and we booked another place in Rotorua. As we were leaving, the owner came up and asked if everything was OK. I said no, and that the room smelled musty. This lead to him trying to save face and I got a lecture on his cleaning practices. He offered another room and I told him it was too late, we had already paid for another place as no one was around. This lead to him refusing to give me any refund except for the $100 cleaning bond. I am a fair person, and I was willing to negotiate a fair refund (half or better in his favour). That didn't happen, so in lieu of him not wanting to change his mind, I have made it a point to warn anyone off staying there. I chose not to take any money back from them at all as it is only money. My sister who recommended Jack and Di's was so embarrassed by this even she offered to reimburse me. I said no. Instead, i am giving them $700 worth of negative feedback...

I wish can give 0 star for this We booked a room for three $ 197 ( 2 adults and one child 17 yrs old). We reached at 2 pm no one was in the office we called the given number the man ( I think his name was ken) came after 15 min instead of courtesy apology for coming late he started looking on paperwork.

Instead of talking to us he got upset and started calling booking.com that they charged us less and he wanted to charge more 30$. 30$ is very small amount when u go for vacation but his attitude and tone was so rude we decided to leave. We called booking.com and they said we paid for three people and he started fighting with them too that they are not reading their motel policies etc etc. Really bad experience outdoor was sad and dirty not sure about inside. Never going...

Was great and affordable for larger families. Staff were accomidating and friendly.

Other patrons were unfriendly and rude during the holiday season. But staff were friendly and had all activities ready to access upon arrival I.e. kayaks and waterside. However some activities and utilities had been out of order for quite sometime I.e. trampoline, dining unbrella, lake zorbs. The staff were friendly especially the cleaner making sure we had towels and toiletries. Always asking if we needed anything. Helping with local activities and locations.

Great accommodation for those on a budget and with larger groups. Recommend if you are not particular with style as outdated, but atmosphere, location and staff attitude makes up for it....
