AVOID! This is the worst of 10+ campsites we stayed in whilst travelling around New Zealand. It's one of the few places I've ever stayed in I'd recommend avoiding. The owners are aggressive and rude and threaten their guests. There are loads of reviews on TripAdvisor that say they had the same experience. The facilities are dirty and mostly not working. There is drinking water side by side with sewage. The kitchen facilities largely don't work. The toilets are dirty and smell of sewage. The 'swimming pool' is a paddling pool. The site is one of he most depressing places I've ever seen. Genuinely AVOID this site it will be a blot on your holiday you won't forget it. NZ has so many good alternative campsites including many free ones.

Very small quiet camp ground with lovely stream to fish from. Big kitchen with everything needed. Nice games rooms. Booking system could be better as there website showed alot of availability so made a booking and headed that way the next day to receive email saying they cant take us. I expressed I had travlled to the area so they allowed us to camp in the car park area Wich was fine by us as it was grassed for us to put tent. There website also states it's $21 per person per nite I was charged $160 for 2 people for 2 nites when it should have been $84

Cheap Accommodation @$60 for the night, a little down on the Aesthetics of the buildings and area but has shared facilities like toilets and Kitchen. Rooms have no toilets or bathroom facilities but a small kitchen with microwave and fridge, heater, Kitchen utensils and a bed with linen and couple blankets, unfortunately my fridge was not working. This accommodation was good when needed to find a bed for the night.

If i could give it 0 stars or Negative stars I would!! we went there on our recent holiday in New Zealand and used Campermate to find this recommended holiday park/campsite. We had a van and needed a powered station. It was 22 dollars per person. The man (Mike) who greeted us was lovely, although quite racist towards me (which I only realised later). The site itself was nothing special, their selling point was canoes and fishing and smoking of fish available - there was no canoeing, no fish and the smoking facilities were not available. The worst however, is being threatened by Jeanette (assuming the wife as she never identified herself), who came into the kitchen at just before 10PM demanding we leave or else she will chuck us out. All we wanted was to cook beans (which were cooked) and just quickly use the toaster so asked if can we just turn things off and clean up and we'll leave in the next 5 minutes. This was greeted was threat of police and senseless arguments from her, with eventually demanding that we leave 'her' property or else she will call the police. We then politely said we will leave if she refunds us the money, which she said NO to and still demanded us to leave immediately. We didn't get dinner, and most of all creepily, she fished our uncooked dinner out the bin, followed us in the dark to our van, and then disappeared before we could confront her. I felt SO uncomfortable and upset and scared she would damage our van, we packed up and left immediately.

100% DO NOT GO HERE if you value your happiness and positive experience at as a camper. The staff were utterly rude and racist, the facilities were old, useless and not clean (the BBQ was rank!). it was a small site! Worst night of our whole holiday. Not worth your time and money this campsite.

Stick to DOC sites or free sites!!! Much prettier scenery, staff...

Do not recommend |This was my favourite place to spend my holidays |Not any more the new management have ruined this camp site |There was a fish station this is now gone |The smoker that was well supplied is not at all now when I wanted to use it the manager showed it to me and it wasn't working he then asked a child to sort it out for me Wtf|There are cabins now where there were full campsites and only accessible through the old campsites so when people are put into these they will travel though your camp site this is not acceptable |The toilet faculties are being used by workers on site who smoke and spit in them the whole place is run down and the pictures shown on the site are incorrect as are most of the listed facilities the web site doesn't work the phone is not answered the bookings are messed up there is no snack bar or shop on site the games room is of no real use there is no access to the pathway to the end of the stream .|Very saddened this is not a place to stay at go to one of the others there are plenty and we will be using them for not on due to a ruined holiday and delaling with shoddy rude management and other guests having to go through out accomodation sites how disgustingly rude to expect this of paying guests and it's not cheap either |Run run run do not use...

PARU!!! We’ve been coming back here for over a decade. The previous owner was a grump but at least he kept the facilities clean, tidy and of cause the attraction access to the lake via canoes, which we couldn’t access because it was cordon off understandably due to flood damage. We stayed in one of the renovated motels for the first time apparently this is all that was available at the time. Office was closed due to renovations, was told to bring own towels and cash (red flags raised, we were desperate due to long weekend) seemed overpriced. Complimentary soap x1 15gm soap for 4 people, didn’t even check if there were enough dishes for the number of people, no wifi code, no glasses, no spare blankets, no clear instructions how to operate the stove top (perhaps wasn’t working) to top it off the bedding was filthy with blood stains on duvet cover, spit stains and old musty smell pillow cases, room smelt old and damp. We slept in the lounge area with heat pump on all night. If we could afford, we would have packed up at left. Sad and glad to say never ever going back there!!! The current owner nice guy but didn’t get to see or talk him, not sure if he’s around… bro the place...
