I recently had the pleasure of staying at National Park Alpine Lodge in Tongariro, and I have to say that it was one of the highlights of my trip. From the stunning location to the comfortable accommodations, this lodge is an absolute gem.
First and foremost, the location is unbeatable. Situated just a few minutes' drive from Tongariro National Park, the lodge offers easy access to some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. I loved waking up each morning to stunning views of Mount Ruapehu and the surrounding hills.
The lodge itself is also a delight. The rooms are cozy and comfortable, with all the amenities you could ask for, including free WiFi, a flat-screen TV, and a well-equipped kitchenette. I also appreciated the little touches, like the complimentary tea and coffee and the fluffy towels in the bathroom.
But what really sets National Park Alpine Lodge apart is the service. From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with a warm welcome and helpful advice about things to do and see in the area. The staff went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed, whether it was directions to a nearby hiking trail or a recommendation for a good restaurant in town.
One of the highlights of my stay was the communal lounge area, which was the perfect place to relax and meet other travelers. I loved sitting by the fire with a book and a glass of wine, chatting with other guests and swapping stories about our adventures.
Overall, I would highly recommend National Park Alpine Lodge to anyone visiting Tongariro National Park. With its unbeatable location, comfortable accommodations, and friendly staff, it's the perfect base from which to explore this beautiful part of...
Read moreI stayed 1 month at the Alpine Lodge (National Park village)while working at the National Park Hotel. From the very first moment I felt homy there. The living/dining room has a nice couch area and a few tables. By good weather this room is full of sunlight. The kitchen is very well equipped with 2 OVENs😍and a FRIZZER which is not so common by most of the hostels. There is also a laundry room with 2 waschingmachines and plenty of clothes drying rack outside. There are a lot of choice about showers and toilets (some in the main building, some outside, some whole bathrooms shower+sink you can lock for yourself!!!). The hostel is very clean (definitely best showers I ever had in a hostel) and Joy gives her best to keep it like this through the whole day while working on the afternoon&evening at the attached shop (Joy’s dairy). The shop has almost everything you need and is very convenient. As a long term stayer I had the luck to have a own bedroom: bed with comfy duvet (it can be very cold at night in the national park), enough storage with some drawers and shelves. The tongariro crossing shuttle stop is just across the street. Joy manage the hostel and the shop all by herself with an awesome energy. She is helpful at anytime, she cares a lot and always try to let the stay be as best as possible for her guests. Thank you for this great experience!!! I will definitely come again and highly recommend this place if after a long travel time you need a...
Read moreWhat a lovely place. We've spent the last three months here and it was a pleasure. The owners make you feeling like home and you sometimes totally forget that you are far far away from home.
Since they bought the lodge, they've changed a lot and Keith, the owner, is working every day to make the best place where we've been in New Zealand, even better!
Some negative reviews before we can't understand. E.g. There is a oven in the common room with free wood and fire lighters. If you are feeling cold you can light a fire, even now in the summer season. And in the winter season Joy, the owners wife, is lighting a fire every afternoon when the people come back from work or their day trips. So it's absolutely not colder than outside....
All in all - the alpine lodge was the best lodge where we've been in new zealand. And that is quite a time already.
We'll definitely come back and totally recommend the...
