The Holiday Park itself is wonderful but there are a few quirky items which if addressed could improve things significantly.
The boundary between public parking lot and playground and private RV Park is a semi-permeable one (1m tall fence), which makes easy access to the playground for the RV park residents challenging, but provides an unacceptable level of visibility of the belongings of the RV park residents to any member of the general public, which raises the spectre of theft considerably. Raising the height of this fence to 2m and providing a few key code access points for the RV residents would resolve this problem.
Additionally, boy-racers speed their under-muffled turbo cars at all hours of the night through the public parking lot, which drowns out the bird song one might otherwise enjoy at the RV Park. Installing a series of more speed bumps would be a considerable improvement here.
That said, the sunsets are lovely, the staff are incredibly kind and helpful and the surfing...

There is an extremely strong and efficient surf life saving club, very active during the school holiday period and certain days during February to April when it is suitable weather for swimming. When the Surf Life Savers are on duty, at this time the beach is very safe as long as everyone listens to their advice and swims between the flags as there can be rips on this beach. Surfing depending on the tide and waves is all year round. The camp ground has great facilities, a minor shop but the Opunake township is 3 minutes drive on 10ish minutes walk away and you should pretty much be able to get everything you need for your camping and holiday...
