We found this facility a few years ago and were most impressed, even calling it our special hideaway and have stayed on several occasions, mostly for the mineral pool and quite location, although this facility is priced on the higher side, we were happy to pay for comfort. However... on this visit 12-06-2021 we booked and paid for 2 nights ($486.00) but unfortunately only stayed 1 night due to the state of the room and facilities.

The Reception area was drab and run down, the staff unable to assist and had to call someone else to help us. The initial room we were shown to was not what we had booked and we had to return to reception to ask for the room we had actually booked, however that room was no better.

The wall by the kitchen had a large hole in it. The cabinetry in the kitchen around the fridge was breaking away. The room was dirty and 'smelt' There were cobwebs everywhere. The skirting boards around the walls needed a damn good clean to remove dust and grime. We were given only 2 towels for use in the pool and bathroom. There were no face cloths to use. The bathroom had only 1 small towel rail which was only big enough for 1 towel, This meant we had to use a wet towel whenever we wanted to use the pool or take a shower again. There was no remote for the air con unit. The TV remote did not work properly. The Carpet was thread bare and felt 'dirty' not sure when the carpet last had a good scrub. Floor tiles in the kitchen were cracked, 1 tile had a hole in it. Wine glasses were dirty and had to be washed so we could use them. On the wall beside the mineral pool we noted electrical wires running down the wall from an electrical unit and through the deck, unsure what this unit is but were concerned at the proximity to water. When in the pool, we noted "graffiti' on the wall, shame to have to sit in the pool and see that. The windows by the pool had 'stuff' smeared all over it, the lawn in the courtyard of our unit needed mowing. lets face it, for the cost of this facility we would have expected more. it's a real shame that the owners of this property have let this property run down to this level. We expected the owners of Parakai Springs Lodge would have ensured their rooms and surroundings were looking at their very best to ensure a good guest experience. This is not a 4 star facility, we only gave it 1 star because of the pool. Parakai Springs Lodge... shame on you... we will never stay here again.. we will never recommend your facility. It seems you are more interested in making money than your guest experience. We would also suggest you change your frontline staff, these people are supposed to be the face of your business, they do not represent your business well. So sad to see this facility in this condition, compared to...

This place has so much potential to be great as it is across the road from the parakai pools and geo pools. With a little TLC it could be a comfortable and relaxing Lodge to stay at. I have stayed at a lot of lodges motels and hotels and this was not worth the price and on its website is quite deceiving. We arrived, check in was very easy. Not greeted nicely as most service desks do. Got given our key and told we could park near the rooms. We walked into our room and it looked very run down. Scuffed and chipped walls, old carpet with burn marks, old stains on white bed sheets and pillow cases. Ripped and tattered pillows. Bathroom was clean but had less than half a roll of toilet paper and no refills so luckily we took our own toilet paper. No flannels and very old body wash, conditioner and shampoo mounted on the shower wall and fan was not working. The kitchenette was very small and not very well equipped. No oven just an electric stove top but vent lights and fan did not work. No cutting knife or board to chop food so we went and bought our own knife to be able to cook our dinner. One small pot an frying pan. Plates were not clean so i had wash it before using. A kids pop top bottle with dish washing liquid in it and a washing brush but no sponge or cloth to wipe bench tops. It says on website that there would be complimentary water but non was there. Wanted to warm up food in microwave but it was very dirty so didn’t bother using it again let alone touch it the whole weekend we stayed there, it was very disgusting. I think the highlight was our own personal spa. But when turning on the jets, was very loud you could probably wake up the whole complex with it on and at night it, the lighting was very dim so we had to turn on the light inside to shine some light. A lovely lady did come to our room on the 2nd day and gave us some fresh towels, a flannel (finally) and a very old tattered bath mat. But she was very nice. When we checked out the reception was locked and we had to call the owner and he told us to leave the key in our room. Did not bother going to the pool or spa as weather was not the best and it was very small. For a premier room, the one above the delux it was premier and can’t imagine what the delux room looks like. We would not recommend staying here, but if you want something on a budget you should def look into it but does not look like what the website shows and...

It was an extremely disappointing stay at P.S.L. for what was supposed to be the lead up to my birthday on Dec.11th. My partner of 15yrs, proudly made the booking himself but didn’t check out the ratings (there were none to be seen). It wasn’t what we would have expected.||||• Parking was a squeeze as another guest couldn’t park straight. ||• I literally wanted to leave after 5 mins of being in the room - It had a musky odour that never went away.||• The indoor table was budget and marked||• The indoor chairs were coming apart on the corners||• The carpet wasn’t clean and fresh.||• The wardrobe doors and walls were scuffed, marked and unclean. Back of the front entrance door, also marked and dirty.||• The ranch slider sills were dirty with mould and dead flies.||• The outdoor table was rusty and the glass top not wiped. We had to clean it ourselves with hand soap from the kitchen ||• There was a huge cobweb in the corner of the outdoor spa – I definitely wasn’t getting in that.||• 1 ply toilet paper – thanks for nothing.||• Flimsy plastic toilet seat||• Broken flush button on toilet.||• No towel rail in the bathroom – just rusty protruding parts left where there may have been one.||• Shabby bathroom cabinetry with peeling paint on edges and filthy dirty behind the U bend.||• Unsightly markings around the door knob in the bathroom – goodness knows what that was.||• There was no milk supplied for tea and coffee - shouldn’t have had to ask for it. Very unprofessional management.||||||Because of the uncleanliness of the room, we didn’t feel assured of sleeping in the bed either so we chose to sleep on top of the bed, using the bed throw as a blanket. I didn’t sleep well, the odd time with people upstairs walking around, people talking loudly outside and at one stage what sounded like domestic violence i.e. drunken male yelling, then female yelling.||||Hence, we got up early, no shower, straightened the bed and unused towels better than we found it, and left around 6.45am on...

Quite the disappointing experience. $220 per night as well O.o. - On arrival the reception lady had just hopped out of the pool and seemed very disinterested and entitled - as though she was doing me a favour by letting us stay there. - I had another "guest" ask me for spare money when I was walking to my room; which suggests to me that this establishment is potentially being utilized as emergency housing. - The room was not completely clean from the last guest - there was still rubbish and a used wet towel in the bathroom drawer. There was hair in the fridge. There was unexplained "dirt" around the place. - A huge concern was the lack of COVID protocol's. Not a single mask was being worn by staff nor was there any sign - no a vaccine pass was requested and seems to be no consideration of social distancing from other guests. They had 1 QR code though. - Room had a funky odour and the outdoors area smelled distinctly of cat food/litter. Indoors was riddled with flys and other insects so we had to go out and buy bug spray. - The Warehouse branded living&co towels were well overused and had a hole in them. - The heatpump worked, however the remote had no cover and had batteries completely exposed - concerning when you have kids around. - Exractor fan in the bathroom didn't work. There was no spare toilet paper - just half a roll of 1 ply. - The private Spa was nice, until my wife randomly found a "wipe" of somesort come through the hotwater tap. - Wifi BARELY worked. A lot of promises on the website went unmet. Really want to continue to support kiwi local businesses, but it's experiences like this that makes it very difficult to continue to avoid big branded companies.

What a major disappointment and so overly priced for a below standard motel, clearly these owners don't care about cleanliness or hospitality. But we had no choice but to take the room as it was late. The room reeked of chemicals and mold, so we left the door opened most of the night. The ceiling was filthy above our bed, the smoke alarm in the kitchen was about falling off. The kitchen cook top had a large crack from top to bottom, you could easily cut your hand when cleaning it, had a dirty fry pan so we had to scrub it, the cutlery was all bits and pieces not even a full set, one teaspoon, no knife to cut veges, and had to use a bread knife instead, there was no chopping board. My partner who's is a clean freak and a great cook, basically had to clean the best she could. There was only half a roll of toilet paper as we found out at 3am in the morning, the toilet wasn't flushing, properly so we had to listen to the toilet water all night. And isn't it standard for a motel to provide their guest with milk for a cup of tea or coffee? Considering their rates were very high When we did ask for milk she reluctantly went to the laundry to give us some milk in a cup. My advice is save your money and book somewhere else. I'm very surprised the motel association is letting this place still operate or, at the very least, the health authorities inspect the motel. This is definitely the worst motel I have stayed in and such a shame that people and tourists who are visiting the area experience this sub-standard motel.

Booked in, receptionist told us it was $195.00 per night and accidently put in $165.00 through eftpos, told her we will pay the rest she said it was ok? How can that be when we checked the pricing it's $165.00. Wow, dodgy. Then there were 4 - 5 people in the parking area of the motel fixing their cars, I was almost afraid to leave the motel room in case we got robbed. The spa pool outside our room was boiling hot there was no way anyone could get into that, went for a swim in the pool you could just feel the algae round the sides and on the bottom. The pool was very relaxing though and once we pulled the plug to the room spa and filled with the cold water hose it was delightful.. Room was big, clean... lawns out by the deck needed mowing.. Shower floor when wet is very slippery so need to make certain it is dry. There's a plug hole on bottom of bathroom floor for the shower so will need to mop up water with towels. I had a nice peaceful sleep bed was comfy. I gave a low rating because of the people allowed to fix cars in the car park which were not guests, they were either friends or family members of the receptionist not a good look. Also spa pool was boiling hot had to wait a while to cool down so we could pull the plug out.
