Hanmer Apartments Hanmer Springs Motel Accommodation — Hotel in South Island

I choose to stay at Hamner Apartments as we could have 3 adults in the one apartment. After booking, but before arrival I was contacted directly by the owners to enquire about the bedding configuration required, for the 3 of us which was very thoughtful and helpful. Upon arrival we were all very impressed by several things including the very warm welcome from the owners, the layout of the apartment (very helpfully my elderly father could have a room downstairs near the bathroom), the condition of the apartment (spotless), the outlook (a semi-private garden patio) with a view out to the surrounding hills/mountains and the extra amenities provided (e.g. Additional towels were provided for us if we wished to visit the local hot pools). The owners were also happy to give us a run down on the best places to eat in the village. We followed those recommendations and were more than happy. The location on the edge of the village meant it was a nice and quiet, and the distance to the village itself (a couple of km's at most) wasn't an issue as we had our own car, but even if we hadn't it would have been a pleasant walk. The positives: We found Owners very friendly & helpful. The units ha a lovely view and are well appointed, reasonably modern, very clean & tidy. Everything worked as it should & it had everything we needed. It had an amazingly powerful shower and there was plenty of hot water. The beds were very comfortable and the pillows were perfect for us. It's only about 1200 meters to the town centre so, only a couple of minutes by car.

The negatives: (Just two) Now please bare in mind that we are pretty light sleepers, so the following may not worry most folk however, there were two things that made sleeping difficult for us. One was the sound of the nearby cows, all night long. Two, the safety light on the internal stairs to the mezzanine bedroom was very bright which made it hard to sleep. (there may have been a way to switch this off, but we couldn't find it).

Conclusion: We would definitely recommend this accommodation & feel that this property represents very good value for your dollar. However, if you are a very light sleeper, you may want to consider...

My girlfriend and i stayed in unit 2 for our anniversary (23rd Aug) Did our homework on google first and opted for this place. Cant speak highly enough of it. Modern and warm with great views and absolutely everything you could need. Free wifi too which was a bonus. Couldn't get enough of the mezzanine bedroom. 2 minutes from the hotpools but just far enough from the village for peace and quiet. Looked at a couple of others one of which was twice the price per night and i doubt very much that it could have been any better. Blew the money we saved on a meal at "Number 31" restaurant, also amazing. Great friendly hosts too. Looking forward to going back.
