Lincoln Motel — Hotel in South Island

I have been staying at this motel since February 2019. This part of review is reIated to my stay in 2019. I stayed here to attend a conference at Lincoln University. This motel is just on the walking distance from the University. I just checked in today, receptionist lady is very friendly, hotel is nice and clean. Coffee shops, new world shopping mall, and restaurants are at few minutes walk. Lincoln University is less than 10 minutes walk. I have stayed here every year since 2019. On 4th March 2025, I stayed here for one night. Every thing was same as mentioned in the 2019 review except rude treatment by owner. As usual, Orbit booked my stay at this motel and the booking showed that payment has been made. On my arrival, the lady told me payment was not made. I showed her Orbit booking and she said the owner will talk to you later on. After a few hours, owner saw me while I was entering my room. He didn't let me enter my room and told me card was declined. I showed him Orbit booking receipt and also provided him with Orbit agent's name, whom he knew. Owner called the agent and I told owner I want to leave but he instructed me to stay there which was quite rude. The owner didn't treat me with respect and his behavior was more like a police man. First-timer here. 3 nights.||One bedroom Apartment (rm12) upstairs near front by road. No problems here!||||This motel is fantastic! Right in the heart of Lincoln, Christchurch. So much to offer around you. Dairies, eateries, supermarket, all sorts. It’s extremely well appointed. ||||Lovely decor, comfortable super king bed, all very super clean and reassuring. Linen and towels great. Lovely supply of teas, coffee and we were even asked what milk we like prior to our arrival! Hosts are really super friendly and super helpful. ||||We stayed here as location is close to where we needed to be. Brilliant find for us :). ||||Motel is about 20 minutes drive from Christchurch city, if you have a car it’s worth staying here instead of city itself. A home away from home. We stayed at the Lincoln Motel over the Christmas period. Comfortable,modern and spacious. Excellent value for money. Well located with a range of cafes etc just around the corner. While we didn’t use the kitchen, the full sized nature of it would be perfect for families. Lovely full sized bathroom including bathtub also. Quiet setting. The owners were fantastic hosts. We had forgotten to let them know that we would need twin beds in our booking. However they made them up for us that evening, despite being busy. Would definitely...
