The reflections on the lake in good weather are absolutely stunning.||The downside is the very narrow gravel road in - be prepared to reverse back for oncoming traffic and dont drive this road unless you are competent and confident reversing your vehicle. Driving out is much easier as you have better visibility of the road ahead.||||There are plenty of camping sites, but the ground is mostly unlevel, so flat sites are fairly rare. ||We were in our camper and used wheel wedges so were fine.||||The thing that really annoyed me is the couple that arrived very late at night and parked right next to us (there were about another 47 sites free). They then proceeded to run their vehicle with their front vehicle lights beaming on. In the end we had to ask them to turn the vehicle off at 10.30pm. They said they were charging something. No cell or internet so phones are pretty useless. Camp etiquette seems to be missing and as this camp is only 13km from Queenstown it does seem to attract those hoping to get a free nights accm - but be warned. The DOC officer was up checking before light and our neighbours got a rude wakening because they hadnt paid. So check in and pay up or you may be woken well before 7am!! Or late at night.||So enjoy this stunning lake - great sunset, sunrise, hike around lake, paddling, swimming and camping.||The toilet facilties were...

Amazing campsite with loads of space. We went at the start of March and must have only been around 10-15 vans parked for the night. Really nice walk around the lake and great mirror reflections at sunrise. Toilets are well kept and the rangers put soap out for the sink. You can pay with cash on arrival and I think the rangers can also arrange card payments when they come in the evening. It is around 4km on a gravel track to get there but it was easily doable in our 2 wheel drive van....

Nice escape place close to Queenstown in between the hills right next to small Moke lake. Horse tracking available next to campsite or walking tracks. Toilets and kitchen area provided. Bit expensive for what it is - asking $15 per person, used to be way cheaper. Access via gravel road easy for 2wd campers, bit narrow along the lake. You can also walk there via Moonlight track from Arthurspoint, BenLomond saddle down to track if you start in town or walk from Glenorchy rd via Lake...

Very cool location, have to drive about 10 mins off the main road along often very corrugated gravel road but not too bad. The campsite has quite alot of space, multiple toilet blocks and a cooking hut (with sinks but no cookers). Due to its location it can be very cold but the early morning fog over the lake is very picturesque.

My favourite campsite in Queenstown. Has toilets, a lake to swim In and a short hike with amazing views. Great spot to stargaze as the skies are super clear here. A small fee to stay here with option of eftpos. There is also a lot of land to choose from when pitching your tent. Drive to the campsite is also very nice.
