Murchison Motels — Hotel in South Island

Murchison Motel is the gold standard in hospitality! A large, comfortable room offering a king size bed, clean bathroom, and well equipped kitchenette, and love seat in the sitting area.

In the bathroom, Kadie and Glen kindly provide locally sourced shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and lotion. We were provided with an ample supply of towels already warming on the towel warmer.

The closet space provides ample storage and includes a luggage rack, ironing board, iron, and hair dryer.

The kitchenette is perfect for preparing a home cooked meal with all the items you need. Kadie and Glen even provided a selection of instant coffee, teas, sugar, and milk in the fridge. If you want to go out for a bite to eat, Kadie and Glen thoughtfully made suggestions of where to dine during your stay in Murchison. The motel is conveniently located downtown, and you are able to walk to most major attractions in town including shops, restaurants, and walk ways.

If this was not already enough, there are also laundry services available to guests. It is free to wash your clothing and laundry detergent is provided. There are drying racks available for guests to utilize, or you can use the dryer for $4.

Booked last minute here at Murchison Motels. The MM was the first one in town I came across, so I called in. Friendly lady at reception offered me a room for a $165. I decided to bite the bullet and paid my money.

The whole motel complex is very quiet and private, with a swimming pool and parking directly outside the units. The rooms are very spacious, with a small kitchenette, bathroom, massive bed, with a proper sofa to sit and watch telly. The TV had the Sky 50+ channels. Room was tastefully decorated, with quality linen on the bed, and lovely hand made soaps and shampoos in the bathroom. Bathroom was a open plan wet area type which was not to my liking, as water goes everywhere!!! But everything was very clean and tidy and well appointed.

I really enjoyed my stay here, but I did struggle with the value for money aspect of the deal. I reckon it was maybe $20 overpriced. But, that's my opinion. Would could do far worse then book in for a night at the...

We booked this motel because we couldn’t find anything else. The photos made it look like our room would be the one that hadn’t been renovated yet and was a bit dated - the last room in the motel kind of thing. Ignore the photos - Murchison motels is fabulous! 100% clean, fabulous linen and beds, a pillow selection to satisfy the fussiest sleeper, a cleverly stocked kitchen and beautiful artisan toiletries that felt like a local treat - you can’t take them home but they feel great. To wash clothes is free in a commercial size machine. The clothesline in the owners garden is epically large. You can pay for a drier too. There’s even a pool for younger kids - was that even on the website? It’s super central for the cafes and shops .... we would absolutely recommend...
