One was suspicious a place with Yurts was going to be anything but a hippy commune - how wrong we were.||Every single aspect of our stay here, in The Shed, was first class.||To the east side of the property are two traditional rooms and not so traditional kitchen and lounge. ||Our room, 'East' had sufficient space to pack and unpack, prepare for hikes. The three most important aspects of any stay are cleanliness, great bed and great shower. This room was perfect with its en suite, very comfortable bed, clean, crisp sheets. The shower worked flawlessly, towels properly laundered and fluffy. Had a porch to stretch out and sit in the sun if you so wanted. ||To the back of our room - a 7 sec walk round to the lounge & kitchen was also a spotlessly clean fully equipped kitchen, and a lounge with comfortable seating. Very large sized area, great TV, one could eat/dine almost as if they were at home. ||In fact walking around the property led to the river, and was of sufficient size to reinforce the spaciousness and retreat a rural property provides, whilst only 2 mins by car to the supermarket and 3 or 4 minutes to Wanaka itself. This is a well designed, purpose built, very pleasant property to stay. The owners should be congratulated on the effort they took to make a warm, beautiful, spacious stay here first class. ||Not surprisingly there were little things the owners have done that increase the utility and ease of your stay here. For example, a clean commercial washing machine and dryer. Anywhere else you need to go find coins to operate - all that is taken care of and our clothing was laundered on the spot. The very large house sized kitchen was spotless, made food prep easy. Separate from your room meant no food smells and the TV could be on without disturbance to others. If you needed to work or write the lounge provided all the space and light you needed without waking your partner.||Frankly, we were really impressed how much thought and organisation went into this place to make it work seamlessly and to the highest standard. This is our first port of call to stay in when we...
Read more!!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! HORRIBLE !!!!! I had the unfortunate experience to book one night at this location thinking it is something special. What a mistake. I have been traveling through New Zealand for about a month and never encountered such unprofessional and rude people as the owners of this joint. After driving a whole day more than 500 km in pouring rain and slippery roads with small children and no cell phone service for hours, I arrived at this location that is not even in the right place on the map. I had to drive about another 5 minutes up and down on the road to figure out where it is since there is only a light bulb and a small wood board scribbled ... oasis. Upon my arrival I was informed that I was late one hour for my check-in, instead of 8PM I had the audacity to arrive at 9 PM, my reservation that I paid months in advance more than $300 for one night was canceled and I have to find accommodation somewhere else. And on top of that I had my credit card charged another $35 at exactly 8:01PM for being late. How ridiculous it that? In my 25 years of travel through the civilized world I never heard of being charged a fee or have a PAID reservation canceled for arriving at 9PM instead of 8PM. There are times in life that things are not under my control, especially when I travel with small children, in a foreign country, in bad weather, on the opposite side of the road that I am used to and no cellphone reception for hours. So instead of getting any understanding for those circumstances, the owners of this joint refused to honor our paid reservation. I left the place very dissapointed and I felt compelled to let other travelers know of my...
Read moreI've stayed at Oasis on three different occasions now, and each was incredibly special and such a wonderful experience. The place is incredibly well designed and beautifully presented. The quality of everything is spectacular and so well thought out. The team that runs it is friendly, accommodating and very knowledgeable. Two of the occasions we stayed were private group functions - which were incredible. It's so nice to have such a beautiful space to share with a group where there are various areas to socialise as well as incredibly comfortable private spaces to break away as needed. We've also stayed as a single night booking, where we shared the common spaces with others. We always felt there was plenty of space, lots of equipment in the kitchen - everything you'd need. And such a bonus to have the outdoor and indoor games to help make the experience even more memorable. Beautiful views top it all off....
