Pioneer Motels Collingwood — Hotel in South Island

We have stayed in this motel several times. since the last stay it has been upgraded. The beds are very comfortable and plenty of space in the lounge and kitchen area. There is a hot water cupboard with hooks for drying wet clothing which we found very handy. Its an ideal situation for the café, tavern and other amenities. there are interesting and historic features to see around that area plus a trip out to Farewell Spit by car or the Farewell Spit tours is excellent. We found the sofa rather low now we are older so put pillow on the seat to give it a boost. Maybe something to keep in mind for future renovations. great room with more than we needed booked at the last minute. very clean and great bathroom... i think we had the W/C accessible one. barbara was very helpful even going to the gas pumps (card only pump) with us when our cards wouldn't work and our tank was empty. laundry was also available which was great as we had just finished a hike. barbara was very personable and clearly wanting our stay to be the best it could be. ||we were on the street but the street is very quiet at night. ||it does have a good kitchen but i suggest you stock up on food in takaka if you want to stay a few nights and cook your own food. although there are also good restaurants in...

Arrived latish no booking, so was grateful there was a room at the inn. All ok had everything that we needed. Had the room by the road. Was very quiet at night. Only criticism was that there was an unpleasant smell. Maybe smokers before us and they had tried to disguise this.||IMPORTANT. If you need provision, do NOT buy in Collingwood shop/supermarket. Very very dear. I know they have to transport everything over the hill but their prices are an insult. Buy in Takaka on...
