I would like to adjust my previous review from a year ago, we returned to the Madhouse cafe with excitement having had a fabulous experience with the slow cooked hare, however this time I had no choice but to return our meals as I could not even get my knife into the piece of hare that was served. The meat could not be pulled off the bone, it was nearly impossible to eat so sadly I had to return the meals. There was no explanations or apologiesfrom the owner, it was a very akward situation, however the waitress was very gracious and understanding and did apologize. I would appreciatean explanations as to why is was so different from our previous experience. I'm now hesitant to go back which is a shame because I recommended it to so...

This place is the jewel of Collingwood as being different from anywhere else, and catering to a wide range of tastes and philosophies. I have been there several times over the last few years and had a variety of experiences, all good, all with different staff +/- the owner. This time , the coffee was 10/10 tastewise and just a tad cold. There were several things crossed off the menu, so less to choose from than usual AND then the breakfast dish we ordered for lunch was better than expected, with a variety of meats, an omlette and a Yummy flatbread. The atmosphere is relaxed, people just being themselves and the art is really interesting and peaceful to be around. If you have time and want to chill out..best place in...

We were considering attending this cafe but recent news the manager considers COVID-19 to be ‘imagined’ causes great concern around practices within the cafe. The displayed Covid QR code is defined as ‘OPTIONAL’ in black vivid pen so with that advertised attitude I lack confidence being there. Really mystified why you would discourage customers from the ability to know if they are at risk...surely the quicker we know where a case has been protects us all. Add to that if they think COVID-19 is fictional are they using safe processes with staff and sanitising tables and commonly used surfaces?? Why would I support a cafe that doesn’t put my...

This cafe looks quite nice in an arty way. Then we started reading the signs! There's a Trespass warning about fining anyone working in government, for local councils or the police and military and even the SPCA $10 grand for entering. Farcial though it is, it clearly sets the tone for the management's attitude and since it covers most members of my family we decided not to go in. Clearly we weren't alone as there were no customers inside or out on a sunny Friday lunchtime. Instead we went to the welcoming (and busy) Courthouse cafe down the road where we had a delicious lunch.

The 4 stars are solely for the food! Surprisingly delicious. The decor is not my cup of tea and made me hesitant about staying. That and the fact that it was empty with only two other customers sitting outside. Nevertheless, Collingwood is tiny and we could see most visitors across the road on buses ready to depart on the Farewell Spit tours. So we stayed as we were hungry! Glad we did, really enjoyed our meals 😁

Awesome laksa, and take my recommendation for I am an Singaporean. This laksa may not be identical to the one I have back at home, but it was amazing in its own ways. Will recommend and return for this bowl of amazing laksa. Not only is Chris' laksa luscious, the pancakes and fish 'n' chips were great as well. If you are looking for something mouth watering, date-worthy and healthy, this is the place to go.
