Foreshore Lodge — Hotel in Te Hiku Community

We arrived here and found no body here. A phone message had been left on our phone to ask what time we planned on arriving but did not say that there was no one living here, and we had had no cellphone coverage all day where we were so didn't get it until it was too late. Once we were let inside ( after having been instructed to take our shoes off and not wear them inside! ), we found things sub standard in regards to provisions. Liquid soaps in bathrooms empty and no other soap available for washing hands, no flannels, smoke alarm missing which is VERY dangerous, only 3 tea bags, 4 coffee sachets, and ants running around. The fly screen wouldn't shut on the window, so we had mosquito's everywhere inside and ended up having to shut the window and it was so hot! Also we booked on the description of 'sea views' from our rooms, but sea was only visible from one room. So all in all not a great experience. If you are looking for a place to stay right on the beach this it. We fell asleep to the sound of waves on the shore. The lodge is literally over the road from the shore. The unit was very clean, the bed was very large, and there was a small kitchenette for self-catering. We were arriving late so phoned ahead when we had brief phone access and arranged where to pick up the key. It appears that the owner doesn't live on site. Got stuck in the area looking at houses and needed a place to stay.||This is a very lovely accommodation. Much nicer than the pictures. 2 small apartments sit right under the owners house ( no noise).||each one has lovely terrace with view over the beach. House directly opposite the stunning each.
