My husband and I just spent the Easter long weekend in The Pad and had an incredible stay. I had been emailing Shayne a few times before our stay and he was very helpful with any queries we had. ||||On arrival, The Pad was all ready for us, we just parked our car and were in. It's a great little place, nice sized lounge and bedroom with comfy bed and a lovely bathroom. The kitchenette has everything you need to cook for yourself if you want to and a big enough fridge to store any wine you may buy at the wineries! The views hit you as soon as you walk through the door, and the deck and beautiful manicured garden are gorgeous and allow you to appreciate the views over the regional park and turquoise waters of the bay to the mainland. ||||We spent a great deal of time enjoying the views from the amazingly comfy beanbags on the deck at all times of day, from breakfast to afternoon and evening. We used the BBQ one day as well which was also great. ||||The location is amazing, just a short drive to Ostend for shops and cafes, and of course multiple beaches and wineries within a short drive. We walked up to Batch Winery for dinner one night (reviewed separately) and it was lovely to be able to walk up there and back from The Pad very easily. ||||The wifi worked perfectly all weekend, although we were mostly switched off from technology for the weekend it was good to have it to do last minute research on island activities etc. ||||We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Koi Roc and felt extremely relaxed and rejuvenated by the time we left. The peace and tranquility of the garden is just incredible. We would love to come back one day and have already recommended...
Read moreWe recently vacationed for a second time at Koi Roc in two years and had an absolutely amazing stay both times. Shayne and Jo's beautiful home that overlooks the bay is the perfect place we needed for some quite relaxation. Looking out the window you view Rocky Bay in its pristine glory and twittering birds provide the soundtrack. Watching the sunset from the deck is an unforgettable experience and watching the canopy of stars unfold at night gives you a sense of your place in the cosmos. This really is a rare spot on the earth to enjoy nature at its glorious best. We went for long walks along the numerous tracks all around Koi Roc as it lies at the border of the Wakhanewha Regional Park and the access to Cascade Trail is about 3 minutes away. Most importantly, it is Shayne and Jo's personal touch as they open their home and heart to visitors, that leaves one with the feeling that you have spent your vacation at a friend's holiday home and not at some rented accommodation. Highly recommended for nature lovers and those seeking some peace and quite away from...
Read moreMy friend and I rented Koi Roc for a 1 night stay in Waiheke Island. We arrived super early and Jo was so helpful and kind to us. She let us put our stuff in the house, and gave us some directions to a nearby vineyard. Unfortunately, the vineyard was closed, but we were able to use the wifi until the cleaner was done to plan out our day. ||||Koi Roc is a little far out and away from the main spots on the island. If we had a car we might have saved some money on cabs. Almost every ride for us was $50 in NZ money. However, we toured some vineyards and drank a lot of wine, so not sure how the car would have worked for that anyways. hahaha!!! It might have been the same price regardless. ||||The house is beautiful!!! Our stay was comfortable and cozy. The view you can't beat it!! I wish we would have had more then 1 day out there, but that was all the time we were allotted. I would say this is more of a perfect place for couples who want to be out in the secluded areas of the island. However, my bestie and I truly...
