This place was a sheep farm in the 1940s and now it's a wondrous piece of native bush, much of it regenerating in a variety of species. It was covered in weeds and now you have to look for them. A tribute to years of hard work and dedication by staff and volunteers. There was one pair of NZ dotterels nesting unsuccessfully at the park before it was bought by the Auckland Regional Council and now with public and pest control there are many pairs successfully rearing chicks every year. The park was bought for about $750,000 in 1994 and now it is one of the nicest regional parks in the Auckland Region.
