Sandnes Vandrerhjem — Hotel in Sandnes

There was a little confusion on the name of the hotel. On the building and their business cards, it is listed as Hotel Sverre. This might have caused confusion and delay of the of one of our luggage. IcelandAir misplaced one piece of our luggages. Four different members of hotel staff helped us in dealing with delivery of our luggage. A separate review of our experience with the airline will cover the detail of our lost luggage experience. The hotel upgraded our reservation to two rooms due to number of guests in our party. That was very nice. The breakfast was decent. It has a communal kitchen and laundry facility for guests use. The hotel has only about a dozen parking spaces around the building. Over night guests can park their cars in the plentiful metered spaces along the city streets for free until 9 am. Then they would need to either move out or to start to pay for the parking. Già dalla hall si respira aria di decadenza e, in effetti, tutto nell'hotel lo conferma: la moquette scolorita, le porte rovinate, l'ascensore che avrebbe bisogno di una bella rinfrescata e gli asciugamani lasciati per terra in corridoio per una giornata intera. Al nostro arrivo ci hanno assegnato una stanza al sesto piano. Peccato che l'ascensore, per qualche strano motivo, arrivi solo fino al quinto. Da quest'ultimo in poi si sale una scala che dà su un ambiente rumoroso e con forte odore di cucinato (probabilmente si trova sotto lo sblocco del sistema d'aereazione). Arrivati al sesto piano non riusciamo a trovare la nostra stanza. Cerchiamo e ricerchiamo e dopo un po', sempre più perplessi, notiamo una porticina, l'apriamo e, a sinistra dell'ennesima (e angusta) tromba di scale, troviamo la nostra stanza. Sembra uscita dagli anni 70, con il bagno posto, in maniera rialzata (si deve salire uno scalino) alle spalle del letto. Le superfici del bagno sono tutte impolverate e, vabbè, pensiamo, ci adattiamo, quando che ecco inizia uno strano rumore, inframmezzato da un tremolio della porte, che sembra non fermarsi. Scendiamo alla reception per chiedere che ci venga cambiata la stanza perché il rumore è insopportabile. L'addetta ( molto gentile ed ed educata, unica nota positiva di questa esperienza) ci dice che noi abbiamo pagato la tariffa ostello (meglio non fare commenti...) si mostra a conoscenza del problema, ma ci dice che non può cambiarci la stanza perché l'albergo è tutto prenotato. A quel punto le diciamo che resteremo una sola notte e non due, come inizialmente previsto. Il giorno dopo, dopo una notte insonne, facciamo il check out e, per venirci incontro, la stessa receptionist del giorno prima non ci addebita il costo della seconda notte e ci fa un piccolo sconto sul soggiorno. Onestamente non capisco il senso di far soggiornare le persone in quella stanza. Non sarebbe meglio chiuderla, evitando così problemi al personale e...

The hostel is located in the centre of town which is brilliant and the breakfast was delicious and there was a great variety as well. The room was a nice size and had great views overlooking the church. The free parking was a bit disappointing, if you were not one of the first there you missed out and had to park on the street.
