We had a great 4 night stay here. It's a fairly big 'ski in - ski out' resort hotel but we stayed during the first weekend of the season so it wasn't too busy. The team gave us good information prior to staying so we had a good idea what we could do and experience and they were helpful too when we arrived. One day when we wanted to get out and explore (we had a car) a member of the reception team recommended a trail which had waterfalls. It looked amazing in the snow. The reception area, on site restaurants and other public areas like the boiling alley, games area and pool where a great addition and needed when the sun went down at 3.30pm! There is very much a family friendly feel about the hotel. The pool was a decent sized, had really shallow paddling pools & a deeper area with a rock climbing wall (yes you read that correctly). It was heated to about 29 degrees and there was a hot tub too which was hot along with a sauna. The surf machine was closed. There is a spa which wasn't included without an additional fee. The room was a good family size and in generally good condition with small outside balcony. There was separate bedroom, double sofa bed and an additional pull down single bed so comfortably accommodated a family of 5. It felt cold in the room initially but did warm up on the evening - the heating is controlled centrally by the hotel. Bathroom had a heated floor. There was tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided with the kettled but surprisingly no bottled water. There was also a mini fridge provided. Location is good if you are on a skiing trip and you are not far from the town but you definitely need a car to get out and about. Parking was amble but wasn't free. It was controlled by an easy park app and didn't work out too expensive (around £8 per 24hours). Breakfast buffet was included in the rate. It wasn't the best we've seen at a 4 star hotel but it wasn't the worst. We had an enjoyable stay and would consider staying again.

Very average-3-star with 5-star pricing and 2-star service. They'll nickle & dime you at every turn on food & drink and also when it comes to facilities: The pool closes at 20:00 - but you must leave the dressing room at 19:40 (they actually kicked us out of the pool at 19:30) - of course, you may pay extra for the "Night Pool" experience and come back at 20.00. Also, you must bring your own towel - or pay 50kr. You'll need a good towel (!) because when we were there, the main pool was a bone-chilling 19 degrees C and the whole area well below what most would consider comfortable when in swimwear, we guessed to simply save heating costs as we did not see any of the ubiquitous "save the environment"-related signs that otherwise helpfully direct you to do things that benefit the environment while (obviously, purely coincidentally) also saves the resort money. Helpfully, we were given the advice that we "can always pay more [an additional 150 kr/person] to go to the "spa", where there's a warm pool". Bowling is priced by the hour, but here, an hour is just 55 minutes! (see picture). Finally, the heavily promoted "Surfer's Bay" indoor surfing pool was closed and is - as far as we could tell - only open when they're filming promotional videos to show on their website. Our conclusion was that we should have saved our family some disappointment and our wallets a serious workout by skipping this place!

What to say? This hotel is amazing, we booked 2 nights here as the last stop of our 2 week vacation. The hotel staff are very hospitable, the rooms are spacious and clean, the beds are soooo comfortable and the activities the hotel offers are superb. The pool, sauna area are great for relaxing, hotel even has a spa with several different massages and other treatments. We had a bikes with us but there are a wide range of bikes to hire. Breakfast has pretty much everything you would want for breakfast, they even make omelets to order, one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had. The bike riding activities are just awesome, even for beginners like us. We didn't venture up to the top of the mountain this time around, the tracks close to the hotel were more than enough fun for us, plus now we have a reason to go back. Full stars, absolutely nothing to complain about.

The Radisson Blu, Trysil is a big but attractive hotel a short 5 min walk uphill to the resort centre. We were really impressed by it. It has a huge open foyer, with indoor fire pit, impressive art and three story high ceiling. It seems to keep its lighting quite low throughout the hotel creating a warm, calm vibe. Relaxed, chilled music is played in the lobby. Reception staff were friendly and efficient. We had a Family Room overlooking the beginner slopes and the mountain. Gorgeous view. The room was spacious with two pull out beds made up in the living room area, separate spacious bathroom with shower and a separate double bedroom. It was ideal for us. ||The hotel has three restaurants; the high end brasserie (Brasserie T) and a pizzeria (La Piazza) as well as the buffet restaurant (Hill Restaurant) and one of the best decorated cafe's I've been to (Mt Mocha). If you are staying at the hotel you get 10% off your food if you show a QR code. We didn't eat at the brasserie as it's not really our kind of food but a friend said it was really good. We ate at La Piazza - the pasta was excellent as was the Caesar salad but the two pizzas were undercooked. We mentioned this and they were immediately taken off the bill and replacements offered. ||The breakfast was excellent. Lots of choice, well presented and really fresh. No made-to-order eggs but that didn't bother us. The buffet area is low lit and really calm, the best way to start the day :-)||The hotel has a bowling alley (which we didn't use), a games room - a good array of games like air hockey, a basketball game, and driving games. You buy tokens from the reception area by the bowling alley. Not expensive. You can also pay for an all-you-can-eat, make your own burger buffet down on this level. It;s an American diner style, but we didn't fancy this. On the same level you have access to the expansive swimming pool area, Two pools, a jacuzzi, a FlowRider (surf thing) and a climbing wall where you fall into the water. There are huge glass windows looking out onto the snowy slopes. Awesome. There is also a really nice looking spa but we didn't use this. ||We felt that these facilities make it a brilliant place for families as the lifts shut at 3.30pm so lots of time to kill before dinner. The lobby had a great atmosphere in the evening, relaxed drinks and families playing card games. ||We struggle to understand why some people don't rate this hotel very highly. We felt it offered everything you could want - with a smile and charisma. If we had to be really fussy, we would say the only two things we would change is for the bathrooms to be updated to look more modern and in keeping with the overall hotel style and for the hotel to be a little less warm! Although we could keep our room cooler using the thermostat so it didn't bother us too much.||I would not hesitate to book the Radisson Blu and I would seriously consider Trysil, Norway for your next family ski trip. It was brilliant in...

We were very impressed with the Radisson Blu during our 2-night stay. The hotel is very well located at the base of the ski slopes, just a short walk to the chairlifts and mountain bike tracks. The hotel is a real hub of activity during the summer with bikes going every which way. There is a good biking shop on site where you can rent mountain bikes. All the reception staff were really helpful and friendly and we were even awarded an upgrade to a 1-bedroom apartment. Our room was amazing – spacious, bright, clean, and the afternoon sunlight streaming in. We even had a small balcony to enjoy the beautiful sunset over the mountain. The large sitting room was great, with a few chairs and couches in front of the TV and views out to the mountain. The bathroom was spacious and functional. We had a mini-fridge but it was quite feeble and could barely cool things down. The breakfast buffet was awesome with a huge variety of hot and cold dishes – one of the best we’ve had in Norway. We really enjoyed the evening taco buffet in the Chill & Bowl café downstairs. We liked it so much we ate there on both nights – very reasonably priced, too! We used the newly renovated gym facility and found it to be decent. It was a little on the small side, but there were a few good cardio machines and a few machine weights and free weights. Definitely enough for a good workout. Overall we had a great stay and would highly recommend it to all other travelers looking for an excellent...
