This is a wonderful property and highly recommended. The rooms are divided over several traditional buildings with wonderful views over the mountains. Rooms are all slightly different and well appointed. Very comfortable beds, good heating (we were there in winter), wifi (spotty in some paces due to the thick walls), kettle and coffee/tea, etc. We stayed in a suite with had a small courtyard, 2nd bedroom/bathroom and a separate living area. Eveything is clean and kept immaculate.||The location is excellent with the three villages walk on your doorstep. The town is close enough to walk to in about 10 minutes. If you need a pool, gym, or a drink you can get a day pass at the Anantara. The building next door has a small museum and a rooftop terrace.||Food is buffet style and excellent. Enough choice and mostly traditional Omani. Always one or more vegetarian options. ||Were this place shines though is the owners. Ali is a gracious host who will bend over backwards to make your stay perfect. Always making sure guests are comfortable and ready to offer suggestions for activities. E.g. my son had a sinus infection and he took as to the local hospital and had a family member drive medication not available in town from the Nizwa.||All in all, true Omani hospitality in a stunning setting. A special experience in a...

In a quaint village nestled in the Omani mountains, once a simple and quiet place for its residents, private houses have been transformed into guesthouses and turning the village into a captivating tourist destination without losing its charm. Through its thoughtful transformation, the village remains a harmonious blend of history, culture, and nature—an enchanting escape where every corner tells a story and where we felt – coming from the Italian Alps - a deep connection to its roots. We stayed in this historic home carefully renovated, offering visitors a cozy place to stay while still preserving the village’s heritage. The common areas are inviting and comfortable, making it easy to unwind at the end of the day and meet other guests from other parts of the world, aways an enriching experience. Spending time there, walking with a guide or by yourself while understanding the village’s and area’s history, have turned the destination into an immersive journey. Nature trails radiate out from the village, leading explorers to breathtaking viewpoints. Overall, Hanging Terraces was a delightful escape that we would highly recommend to anyone looking for a unique and memorable experience. The combination of excellent service, charming ambiance, and the cozy, homely feel makes it a...

I recently stayed at this hotel and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The service was outstanding from the moment I arrived – the staff were professional, kind, and always ready to help with a smile. The cleanliness of the entire place was impressive, especially the rooms which were spotless, well-maintained, and smelled fresh every day.

The quality of the place itself is top-notch. The interior design is modern and welcoming, and everything feels carefully thought out to provide comfort and luxury. The food was also a highlight – every meal was delicious, well-prepared, and beautifully presented. Whether it was breakfast or dinner, the variety and taste were excellent.

One of the best things about this hotel is its location. It’s in a beautiful area, very peaceful and close to everything you might need. The view from my room was breathtaking – I could see the surrounding landscape and it added so much to the experience.

Lastly, I want to especially thank the guest services team. They went above and beyond to make sure my stay was perfect. From arranging transport to offering helpful local tips, they were always attentive and professional.

I highly recommend this hotel to anyone looking for comfort, quality, and excellent service. I will definitely be...

This was our first time going to jabal al akhdar and we came across the hanging terraces and thought it looked very homey and romantic for our honeymoon. It felt like we were transported to a hobbit village as all the doors were so tiny to enter, which really fit with the aesthetic of the hotel. The room we stayed in was called "Al Sidra" and the hotel provided us with everything we needed. The hotel offered breakfast and dinner and the food was locally made. The fruits tasted amazing 😍 my husband fell in love with the lamb sticks from the first time we had dinner. What made our stay more memorable was the host "Ali" as he was very friendly and told us everything we needed to know about jabal al akhdar, from fun activities like hiking, to information about museums and other areas such as Nizwa. Years into the future we'll remember our days at the hanging terraces and the friends we've made there! I definitely would come back again and relive our special memories and I recommend anyone to come stay here and enjoy the amazing weather, great company and unforgettable mountain views!

Yhe host Ali is genuine friendly, helpful and he has a son Yahya who takes after him. Hard working l, service minded and good hearted. What a great and small hotel is this but what a gem. Right at the start of the rose field track. When we were visiting on 20 April 2024 the week before it had rained so much and floods were everywhere. As a result, everything was green and because of spring all and evrything was blosseming. People were swimming and there was a marvellous waterfall. The rooms are not big but we had no. 6 which had a great view towards the valley and the waterfall. There is a rather huge sundeck and chilling at the end of the day after walking, climbing and sometimes slipping and sliding, it is then very rewarding to lie on a sunbed with a cold drink and reflect on the day. We will certainly come back again.

Absolutely loved my stay at this charming guesthouse! If you're looking for an authentic experience in a truly unique location, this is the place to be. Every corner is decorated with so much love and attention to detail, honoring local culture and history in the most beautiful way. The meals, lovingly prepared by local families, were absolutely delicious. What truly makes the stay unforgettable, is the owner’s and staff genuine care and warm, personal hospitality—you really feel welcomed and valued as a guest. Plus, the activities—from cultural tours and scenic hikes, wadi adventure to incredible stargazing sessions—made it so much more than just a place to sleep. I wholeheartedly recommend staying for at least two nights—you won’t want to leave!
