The owner is excellent with communication. She always quickly answered my messages and provided answers to my questions! She also was willing to work with us when weather affected our plans. I have never stayed at a hostel. That said...we were fortunate to be the only 2 in a 4 bed room with attached bathroom. I realize I would not be comfortable sharing with strangers, no place to lock belongings(owner did offer to keep) and bed directly next to path to restroom. This house is located directly on main road out of Bocastown. This is great for ease of walking into town and there are nearby markets etc. However, it is very noisy and dusty. It's a beautiful old house, but very lived in and sounds from family travel easily into rooms. There is a large open porch to relax on and kitchen for all guests. We cooked dinner one night but had difficulty as basic supplies were not there(paper towels, soap). Once we let them know the next day they provided them. We only stayed 1 night but that was by our choice due to noise and location. Excellent value and...
Read moreThis place was amazing to stay a few days in New Year, great deal to have a/c in all the rooms is game-changer when it gets very hot and humid or you are coming back from the beach. Is in 7 street in front of an Adventist Church and it has close groceries stores. Is safe for women alone (I’m a local but was solo traveling.) Comfy beds, comfy pillows to sleep. VERY CLEAN. I appreciate the owners have the care to clean everyday the rooms not waiting for the stays to be over. Open kitchen to do whatever and it has a cute open balcony super comfy great to meet other travelers.
The only deal is the fridge… (is too small for a Hostal it needs a change). Also the family living there is amazing but never told me it included breakfast I found it out later jaja like it needs better intro when someone is arriving. From the rest I really...
Read moreMy boyfriend and I stayed at La Veranda for 3 nights. Nice areas for socializing. The air condition only starts after 6 pm which makes it intolerable to stay in the dorm during the noon. So everyone hangs out in the social areas making it very lively. It's an old building, so there were ants on one of our beds. During one night, we were woken up by something crawling on our legs. It was a cockroach! Ugh. They could probably do with a good pest control of the whole building. The bathrooms and kitchen were clean. It's close to everything on the island and overall a very quiet place. No loud music or party around. The owner, Myron, was a really nice guy extremely helpful with everything. We loved his...
