Bocas del Toro Isla Colón José E. Hall International Airport — Local services in Bocas del Toro

This airport is what it is, small and cozy, customs and aduana people are friendly and nice but the gate security people are TERRIBLE! I had one of the lady’s (the small dark plump one, [parece una pelota]) literally yell at me for several minutes because we tried to bring some of the local hot sauce back! Customs told me it wouldn’t be a problem and we could take it in the plane but clearly there is a miscommunication there. All the other people going through security with us were shocked as well. She then gossiped ( she didn’t know I speak Spanish too) to all the other workers there about it and decided she wanted to bring it up to our pilot as well for whatever reason. So she took our hot sauce and then didn’t throw it away with the rest of the liquids and whatnot(as any airport does), but kept them as well. Even after I decided to let it go and walk away she decided to keep bringing it up and was EXTREMELY rude and unprofessional. Just wanted to bring some of the local flavor home but guess not! I have filed an official report with the airport so...

Worst experience at an airport, EVER! Because their system was down, for whatever excuse they were giving that day, we missed our flight back to the states from Panama City, due to a 5 hour delay at Bocas International. Not one attendant greeted or acknowledged anyone waiting in line. Took a solid 10 minutes to get our information written down for check in and even at that, attendant didn't give us any kind of update or information as to what was happening. Don't book with nature air. You arrive 3 hours before your fligh and there's nobody at nature air desk. Others airport workers tell you "there is no flight today". So you show them your 750$us ticket confirmation (for 2 people) and they say:"yes we know". So the flight was apparently canceled but no one told us, and we booked 1 week before the flight. We missed 2 days of vacations, had to do 10 hours boat/boat to get to san jose, almost missed our international flight. And two days later we still haven't received any news from nature air, good luck to myself to get my "falses...
