The hotel has as many advantages as disadvantages. We are talking about low season (July). Long story really (almost) short: The hotel and the restaurant are run separately, so you get a room, but not necessarily food (lunch or dinner). However, if you are lucky enough and get the restaurant open for lunch and dinner, you can buy very tasty meals for a very good price, made by a nice and friendly elderly lady. Order in advance, though! If not, you pay normal and not very cheap. Breakfast is ridiculously simple: scrambled eggs and three bread rolls with a pinch of butter and jam, some fruit juice and tea or coffee. Every day! The rooms per se are rather old and filled with must (a lot of humidity). And they are not cleaned every day. The outside of the hotel is rather clean, but you can easily find some ants, bugs and small leaves in the swimming pool. We can forgive that. It's an outdoor swimming pool. Finally, the service. Of course, no English at all! Reception is very slow. And oddly enough, they ask you to wear a paper wristband for the entire stay at the hotel 24/7! (We refused that, though). Something positive is definitely the beach part of the hotel. Spacious seats with a roof and baldachim, make the time spent near the ocean a really pleasant experience. Summing it all up, the hotel looks better in pictures than it really is. However, for the price they offer (about $40), it might be difficult to find anything better. Still, if you require something more than simple average, and want to spend a pleasant time on the premises of your hotel, better pay a little bit more and find a better option. There are plenty of other hotels nearby.
P.S. The hotel...
Read moreVery nice little get away place, great view ocean front. was quite happy to be there and liked what I saw so far, THEN half of what was on the menu (food and Drinks) were not available and the worst part was that nobody really cared if you were not satisfied. We actually served ourselves a few times because there was nobody to be seen.||THEN we had a rude awakening at 8 am from a front end loader and a mechanical shovel because they were adding some huge stones and sand directly in front of the hotel. No warning, explanation or even a simple sorry for the inconvenience. The work continued until 1 pm, in the after math the rooms and pool were full of sand and dust and wasn't cleaned up until the next day. At 10 am we went to the next hotel about 500 m away for breakfast, drinks and sunbathing. they only reopened the pool at 11am the next day. ||The next day the inclusive breakfast was some grayish colored scrambled eggs and some cornbread and just decided to go back to the place we were the day before because they had great food and excellent service.||I've traveled all over the world and I know things happen or can go wrong but usually the staff will make an effort to accommodate the guests but this place was the worst and not once did they say sorry or even make one effort for anything. ||||In the end I would not go back there if...
Read moreWhen I come to Peru I usually stay with family. My family isn't rich by any means, but it's comfortable enough. As a treat we came to stay here, and I was very pleased.
Is it a 5-star hotel by American standards? No. But does it have hot water? Yes. Does it have AC? Yes. Is it cleaned and regularly maintained? Yes. Also the staff is nice and attentive and I hope are paid well. All that gives it a 5 star review from me.
It does have fantastic views, access to the beach and right now a floating bridge. The construction of the building is beautiful.
Some cons to be aware of is that there doesn't appear to be an elevator to the upper floors. Wheelchair access here looks to be tricky. The locks on the doors are a bit wierd so check on them before...
