We picked this hotel because of good reviews and we loved how it looked in pictures. We got hit with two surprises during our first 4 hours being there. Firstly, We walked into our room and it was obviously hot, the air wasn't on so the first thing I did when I checked in (around 6 pm ) is turn the air on 16 degrees celsius. I was maybe in and out of my room a total of 3 times during this time. Each time I walked in, it was still hot. Air was blowing but it was like a fan. On the other hand, i walked into my brothers room, turned the air on and took 20 minutes to get cold. We went to the front to tell the worker that our air isn't cool. He comes in, sees it's hot. He tells us that it's because we are waking in and out of our room and that the lights were making the room hot. Whatever. After he left, I look at the unit and it turned up to 30 degrees celsius! I left it at 16! why is it being turned up so high when it's already so hot in here? After I saw this, I went back downstairs and see him putting on his backpack to go home. I talk to another worker because clearly the first one wasn't working with me. I explained the situation and the guy had NOTHING to say. And I mean just gave me a blank stare when confronted about the temperature. When the second guy came up to check, he turned the temperature back down and said he fixed it. Anyway, I go downstairs and see what seems to be a manager or higher up. I explain the situation for the third time and the second worker tells him he fixed it. Im so annoyed at this point but keep my mouth shut because maybe, just maybe I could be wrong. My husband and I then leave to go to the corner store and took maybe 15 and came back and it was still warm. We had to ask if there was another room or anything else they can do for us. Unfortunately there weren't any rooms left open that have air conditioning. I don't mind that I had to ask but I felt that it should've maybe been offered. If i wanted a hot room, i would've paid for a room without air conditioning and saved money. Again the main reason we came here is because of the air conditioning and price being in our range. It didn't get cool until 1:30 am. 6 1/2 hours after check in.
The second surprise was after the pool closed, My daughter (6) needed a shower. I turn the water to warm and she gets in the shower and within seconds she turns around, screams, and flies out of the shower in a hurry. She screams there's something in the shower , and when I went to look.. IT WAS A SCORPION!!!!!! So im freaking out because how did a scorpion get into our room?? Now im from peru, And the area we are in (ICA) is desert like. I know there are scorpions here. But the window above the shower was left open and I am assuming that is how it got in. I yelled for my husband who was sitting poolside to grab a worker to help me because there is a scorpion problem. I am not an expert but I didn't know if the scorpion was poisonous or not so I thought maybe someone who works here may know how to deal with it better than i can because it is so common in the area . He comes in and looks shocked. He says they've never had a scorpion here before and grabbed a dust pan, smashed it and scooped it up. He sais the window was left open so it probably came in, that we have to understand that scorpions are really common around here and said he knows that this scorpion is not poisonous. No apology, not asking if my daughter is okay, no emotion , nothing . I was so shocked at this. I literally had to hear my husband ask the worker if there is any thing they're going to do?? They offered a free drink and app. We'll take it , regardless it doesn't change the fact that my daughter refused to shower the next day and was terrified to use the bathroom. Other that the, the waitresses were AMAZING! One of the workers Jenny was overall awesome and made us feel so comfortable. The pool was so nice, cold but so refreshing with this heat. The...
Read moreWe stayed here in Ica for one night after traveling from Lima. Our trip was to Huacachina for sand-boarding and dune buggies in the desert around the oasis. This hotel is basically in the middle of a residential area not close to any restaurants or bars. Nightlife is non existent here and everything shuts down fairly early. We were looking for more of a nightlife and we found that in Huacachina near the oasis. Had we known we would have booked a hotel in Huacachina closer to the oasis. But trying to get a taxi at 2 AM from Huacachina back to this hotel, which is only a 10 minute drive, proved very difficult at that time and it started to rain. luckily we found a taxi further down the road and he took us back to the hotel. The rooms are nice and clean with rotary fans affixed to the wall, not even ceiling fans. There is no air conditioning so be prepared to be extremely stuffy at night. The windows and doors to the room overlook the hallway and inner courtyard which is open air so be prepared as well to be woken up around 7 AM from other hotel guests with their kids and hotel staff who generate noise. Breakfast was included which was basically eggs, toast and coffee, nothing spectacular. Overall, not a bad hotel just more for families who want the distance...
Read moremy partner and I stayed here in Sept 2021 and really, really enjoyed our time - the staff was accommodating, the drinks were superb (perhaps best I had my whole trip!), and the rooms and open spaces were very clean. The food was also fantastic and since it’s tucked away from the main streets, very quiet (albeit, it’s very open so there’s some noise echos if you’re a very light sleeper) and safe. ||||It’s about 10 min tuk-tuk ride to the dunes and so if you’re looking for a more toned down (compared to the “partier” spots in Huacachina) and more upscale style while still affordable, highly recommend Hotel Las Flores! ||||as a note (and doesn’t affect the review, still would opt to stay here) but more for the staff, please be careful with whom you send laundry out to because some of my partners clothes were stained (with bleach maybe?) when received it. Though I appreciated not being charged, she was a bit disappointed. Again, no blame toward the staff but just making note - still...
