Ica Adventures 2 — Hotel in Ica

Very nice hostel located a little bit further the city centre of Ica. Our bus arrived at the terminal and we had to walk about 15 to 20 minutes to arrive there, but it was very worthy. The surroundings are less busy and dirty then the city center, and the hostel is really good. They have a supermarket in the groundfloor, and 3 floors of hostel/bar/chill area. We got a deal on booking and stayed in a deluxe private room with balcony for 15 dollars, and the room was as comfortable as any star hotel. Great large bed, great shower, spacious room, good towels, and a big TV with Netflix. Only but was that internet was really slow at the room so we didn't manage to finish a movie in the TV. But that was a minor thing. Breakfast is also good, and the bar have good diner options. We had the Quinoa veggie burger and it was delicious.

We took a tuctuc in front of the hostel to huacachina for 5soles, and same price to bus terminal.

Nice backpacker hostel which a reception which always appeared to be staffed. I can imagine it's pretty happening when covid isn't a thing. There's tons of amenities like a pool table, chillout area and cinema, but they weren't be used when I was there.

I recommend staying in Ica as there's more places to eat than Huacachina. You only need to spend a few hours at the dunes and oasis at most.

I booked a dune tour here which I feel was a bit unnecessary as it would've been easier and cheaper for me to just get a taxi to Huacachina and find any tour there. Booking at the hostel meant waiting for pre-arranged taxis to pick me up when there's plenty of taxis to take from the street. My tour wasn't the best as we only got the opportunity to go down on a sandboard once, but that's not exactly the hostels fault.

What are you doing?!?! Stay here!! This is the best hostel I've stayed at in South America. It has everything you need. Strong wifi. The rooms and common areas are extremely clean. Showers have hot hot water. The staff are incredibly friendly and willing to assist you anytime. They offer some great tour options for an even better price.

Also has a mini market in the lobby for snacks, food, and drinks. The restaurant has some crazy good food!! And it is a must try.

Lots of couches to lounge on as well as ping/pong and table soccer. The best part for me was the movie room that has a massive TV with nextflix if you wanna kick back and relax after a long day (popcorn is available as well). I didn't want to leave this place it felt that good.

So stop procrastinating and book a room!! You will not regret it 😀 cheers Ica...
