Knew I was going to have a 12 hour layover and pre-booked this place because of the excellent reviews. I was not disappointed.
Taxi service from the airport was $13 total for 2 people and took maybe 10-15 minutes to get here. Driver knew exactly where he was going as soon as I showed him the name.
The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They had somebody standing at the door when the taxi arrived. Someone else came from inside and grabbed all our bags. Check-in was quick, and the desk clerk was also extremely polite. Someone showed us to our room and brought our bags up for us. Thoroughly impressed with the staff.
The room isn't gigantic, but it's perfect for what you need if you're looking to stay close to the airport. Extremely clean. The bed is comfortable. They have American channels on the TV. Wifi is plenty fast, reliable, and easy to access. American plugs for our computer and cell phones worked without needing an adapter. AC in the room worked great.
I was expecting a European sized hotel bathroom based on the room size, but was pleasantly surprised. The bathroom has plenty of room, is extremely clean and modern, and the shower is quite large. Definitely different from Europe. [Update: This was the best shower I had during my entire Peruvian trip. Water pressure was great. Water was hot and stayed hot as long as I wanted. Best hotel shower I've had in a long while.]
The breakfast wasn't anything fancy, but it was also great. It's not a buffet style. They have a person that works the dining area and treats it like he's your waiter at a restaurant. He gave us breakfast options, and brought out our coffee, juice, fruit, fruit juice, bread, and finally the breakfast entree, which for us was a breakfast panini.
The surrounding area doesn't look like it's the best neighborhood, but never once did we feel uncomfortable or unsafe. In fact, we felt extremely well taken care of. For the price and proximity to the airport, you can't beat this place.
The only "issue" if you want to call it that is that you can hear the horns from cars on the main road up the block. I'm not sure this can be helped though, as I suspect it's just a part of staying in Lima. It wouldn't deter me from staying here again.
[Update 2: We had another long layover on our way out of Lima. We went to Miraflores, shopped, ate, and just hung out by the Pacific. We regretted not checking into Hotel Limaq again. We will definitely stay here again if we make it...
Read moreHoly American everything that's pure in this world, this is literally the worst place I ever stayed in my life, I was supposed to or a prepaid for this because I usually use hotels.com, answers of payment didn't went through so I have to pay again, and they asked me for my password and my credit card and they need a copy of both I'm like what the fun, I have no Peruvian soles so I paid him in dollars and and it was very unfavorable to me, the room smell like wet towels or something, bed feels super uncomfortable, the location seems very unfriendly, in fact I thought I was going to go to the wrong neighborhood in the wrong time, I felt that you put an event step outside for a second, the massage chairs are horrible, more like that massage chair sorry, I wouldn't waste my money here to be honest, I just came here because my room on Holiday inn was canceled, some sort of last minute mistake so I just had to get up this place last option, and I tell you it was the most horrendous experience, the buffet was so sad, 50 bucks and they give you basically a little bit of yogurt, a little bit of a red with ham and cheese that doesn't even taste that good, like two options of fruit, some cereal, maybe some coffee if you're lucky. Milk that was okay, it actually tasted like milk, like that smell that you get from the Amish doll in Pennsylvania, it was pretty good, but overall sad, nobody speaks English, and the three words that they know is like, welcome thank you and bye, let's not even talk about how they expect you to carry your own stuff, because the elevator is broken, and the crazy part it got fixed the very next day or something, I think the locals use this more like a place to have you know the hanky panky like they used to say in Philippines. But for reals, better stay somewhere else call your Holiday inn or your Wyndham 3 weeks in advance and confirm your reservation don't be like me. Don't stay in this place please...
Read moreA simple hotel, but everything is new, clean and perfectly kept, rooms are well equipped with flat tv set, air conditioner and a modern and fully functioning bathroom. The bed is large and sheets are of fine quality cotton. It has a well stuffed mini-fridge. The breaksfast is very good and abundant, coffee is very good. The personnel are kind and helpful. It is located not far away from the airport, which was a decisive point to us. Lima's traffic is terrible and being close makes a difference. The area is typical middle-class Lima. Not nice, but ok. Great value. It has some interesting...
