The first room we got smelled like old cigarette smoke, we then got shifted to the room next to it which smelled better at first. At night it started to smell like smoke again.||||The noise is horrifying. Even when the windows are closed it's incredibly loud. So much so that you will have a hard time sleeping. Not to mention the smell of the smog coming from all the cars. The hotel is situated at a 4 lane highway both ways by the way. The location is generally pretty bad, I'd rather recommend staying in Miraflores.||||There were also very noisy other guests, which obviously isn't the hotel's fault but it was still a very bad experience since they were knocking at our door at night and we heard them running away giggling.||||The second or third day I went into the bathroom and got locked in. Luckily my friend was still in the room and after a few tries to open the door from outside he has to get a member of staff from the hotel to get me out. For the rest of the stay we didn't dare to close the bathroom door again (and we're not a couple so it was a bit awkward sometimes).||||The next day we noticed that the handle of the window was missing. They had a handyman come in and repair it a few hours later.||||All in all we had a terrible time there and on top of that it was...
Read moreWe liked our stay at Hotel Melodia. Having glanced through some previous reviews I have the following observations;|Re vicinity to airport: Any closer and you would have been out on a limb with no venues (decent shops, restraints etc) within walking distance. A better area is Mirorflores but it's so much further away from the airport that it becomes impractical for quick airport transfers. We used this hotel as an overnight stop twice for different flights and it serves it's purpose in that respect. |Re the toilet being stuck on continuous flush: they operate a dual flush system and you have to lift the flushing lever back up fully to stop the constant flush mode. |We would stay here again on a short term basis, but as other reviewers point out, it's probably not the best choice of hotel for a long term stay. Our rooms were clean and warm with good showers, working TV and phone etc. The staff were polite...
Read moreFor a middle class area of Lima in the San Miguel district it is a nice hotel. For a mission trip it is a great place to stay. I never felt scared or anything but it is not a Holiday Inn or a Merritt. Our room had 2 very firm twin beds. Very small shower (like an RV camper) bring washcloths if you use them. It was clean and breakfast was good. Especially the COFFEE! Very noisy from street traffic so bring ear plugs. Free wifi but it may only work by the elevators - it wasn't a strong enough signal to work in my room. Need power and outlet converters if from USA. We were working on New Pachacutec, Adasesep and Upper Pamploma so this was an easy place to stay. Lots of stores and restaurants walking distance. We bought a hair dryer at a local store to use for...
