This 2-star accommodation is affordable and located outside of the typical tourist attractions of Lima (ie, Miraflores and Barranco). Using an Uber to and from this place is pretty straightforward and not a concern. The area also felt pretty safe with many food options nearby. The staff had always been pretty accommodating and are nice, however, it can be hit-or-miss on the English. It won’t be an issue if you use translation apps if you can’t speak Spanish.
The rooms are as you see in the photos and expected from this type of accommodation. We had no issues.
The bathrooms can be hit or miss due to toilet paper and soaps not being refilled timely. Again, not an issue because this met our expectations.
The kitchen and common areas were nice and had everything we needed.
Please beware the loud street and club below. As we stayed on the weekend, we heard club music playing at night.
Overall, this accommodation forced us to stay at a place outside of our comfort zone and away from the typical tourist hotspots. This enabled us to learn and experience other parts of Lima that we would never had travelled to if we...
Read morePro: The hostel is located close to the historic center, you can walk there. It has free breakfast which is simple but enough. Also gives a free towel, has hot showers with shampoo and a hot water dispenser all day long.
Contra: I generally didn't feel comfortable here. I stayed in the 6 people dorm. One of the lockers was broken and on the first night the host repaired it in front of our room until 10:30 pm which was super loud. He then brought it back in and moved all the furniture while people were already asleep and finally came back a couple of minutes later, around 11pm, with a headlamp to clean it (again, while people were trying to sleep). The next day, I went out for the whole day and came back to find all my valuables unlocked in the hallway. I was given a locker and a lock from the hostel and while I was away for the day (with my key!!!!) someone from the hostel took my lock to instead lock the things for breakfast and simply left all my things unlocked in the hallway (with that I mean my laptop, my camera, all my cash, credit cards and passport). This simply...
Read moreAlfonso and his team did everything they could to make us feel welcome at Lima House and even allowed us to check into our room on arrival. This was especially appreciated as we travelled on a night bus and turned up at the hostel seven hours before check in time! The hostel is centrally located and close to most of Lima's main attractions. There is a 24 hour front desk and great complimentary breakfast buffet provided in the room rate. Our beds were comfortable and the communal areas are great for meeting other travellers. There was also a well equipped kitchen where we could cook- definitely appreciated as we are backpackers on a budget! Overall, a great stay that I would recommend to all travellers. Thanks for...
