We stayed here during our trip to peru. We have 4 people in our group so we booked 2 rooms. Like many other travelers to Peru, our main destinations were Cusco and Machu Picchu so we only stayed here on the first day when we arrived in Peru and the last day we're about to leave Peru.
On both occasions this hotel exceeded my expectation especially for their SPG recognition. Not only our room was upgraded to club level, the receptionist (I think her name was Rosa) gave us connecting rooms and she was helpful in arranging our restaurant bookings and travel needs. We were given coupons for free pisco sour upon our arrival in addition to free internet access and a room upgrade so the SPG recognition was definitely amazing here.
The club lounge provided some of the best fruits I've ever had. And there's actually a working computer (complete with fast internet and printer + paper) in the club lounge.
The hotel location was also nice. There's a shopping mall literally next door so it's easy to shop and get a taste of local food. We spent our first day walking to the governor's palace as well as the plaza de armas because it's located nearby. Along the way we found many shops, local eateries, which I think was pretty cool.
On our second leg after returning from Cusco, we stayed here again. It's funny that we're checked in by the same receptionist again. We had made prior reservation to Astrid y Gaston restaurant and Rosa helped us confirm the reservation for us. We also were helped by the hotel's door opener when we tried finding taxi he helped us bargain the fee. (Note: all taxi in Peru don't use meter, you have to bargain before you take the taxi. We save 10 soles because of his bargaining skills)
There are minor concerns though: the internet wifi signal was pretty weak in our room so we had to go to the club room to get better signal. Also there were some confusion about the stay credit so I had to call the SPG customer service to get the stay credit. But those were minor problems.
Overall it was a nice stay. FYI, they also have a shuttle to Miraflores if you want to explore different...
Read moreI had a quick one-day meeting in Lima, and ended up with a 23-hour stay in the hotel. It was easy to reach and well recognized by the taxi, with about a 20-25 minute drive from the airport late at night.
Upon arrival, I immediately noticed that it was placed in a historic area of the city, and welcomed into the lobby. Hotel staff were very welcoming, and had everything already prepared for my room - instead of waiting around while they checked for a room for me.
As a Platinum member I was upgraded to a suite on an upper floor of the hotel, which appeared to have been recently renovated (according to the floor room it was supposed to be two separate rooms). It offered a sitting area with a table and separate washroom in the outer room, complete with a TV.
A sliding door separated the inner bedroom, with a spacious bed and an even more spacious bedroom, with a separate shower stall and jacuzzi bath. It also had a glass-enclosed hallway featuring a surplus of closet space.
Overall I was impressed with the appearance - I like the separation of the bedroom with the sliding door, as it masked any sound from the outside hallway.
Speaking of sound, I’ve never been a fan of hotels with a hollow core. They tend to echo and amplify any sound below upwards - but I didn’t notice anything like that in a hotel. There was even a conference going on at the bottom of the hollow core which I could hear from lower floors, but not the upper ones.
On the 18th floor was also a lounge, which featured a full breakfast with hot and cold items, and in the evening cold and hot snacks as well. I was impressed with the offering and service, and never found it too crowded in there.
I noticed that there were some floors that were draped in tarps, from looking out into the hollow core, which appear to be under renovation still.
For options close to the hotel, it’s adjacent to a mall with a supermarket, food court, and for those of us who can’t live without our coffee - two Starbucks within a 3-minute walk.
I’d happily...
Read moreWe had an outstanding experience at this hotel during what turned out to be a very difficult time for our family on holiday.
A shout out to a hotel going WAY above and beyond for a titanium member at the Sheraton Lima Hotel and Convention Center in Peru.
Sometimes the things they say are impossible and against policy at other properties can totally be done with a caring and thoughtful staff. I especially want to mention Teresa Araujo, who was my Advance contact and the person who was in charge of arranging our situation along with her team.
We came to Peru on holiday with plans to end our trip (my sister and our four kids) at the Sheraton for a couple of nights in Lima before flying home. I was in touch ahead of time about my nephews birthday and they offered us an upgrade and adjoining rooms and club access for all of us, which was very nice.
But then I had a ruptured appendix in Cusco, and was ultimately airlifted to Lima for an ICU stay... And my sister and kids and then my husband ended up at the Sheraton for my entire hospital stay because I had chosen it beforehand. But this time... No elite member present.
But their team met and decided under the circumstances to give them a suite, club access, etc as a courtesy on my behalf (no EQN for me which is fine!).
Once I left the hospital we have continued to stay at a reduced rate for weeks while I recover. It's been lovely. Each and every day we are treated with warmth and kindness and consideration and our sweets as well as the staff make us feel like we are at home. Housekeeping is available at the touch of a button which has been important as someone who has spent most of my time in the room. Fatima greets us at breakfast, and the staff members at breakfast, Alexander, Estefania, William, Melissa, Edith, Ricardo and everyone made us feel at home each day.
This hotel turned a very hard situation into one which ended up being as comfortable as possible and we will be...
