I stayed at La Casa De Jessy from Jan-May 15 and having been to a few hostels around the world this will be my favourite. The location is great and out of the noise of the nightlife and if you do want to drink some cocktails on the beach it is only a 10 minute walk down a very safe street to the bars and restaurants. The hostess Jessica is an absolute star and will do anything to help you in whatever ways she can be it driving you to Talara 1 hour away to get you swallowed credit card, taking you to the pharmacy for insect bites, a ride to Los Organos and many many more. The hotel has an awesome dog Luna, who every guest has fussed with her quiet lazy nature and she is available for walks along the beach! The price was also very reasonable for a longer stay and was very good value for money. My room was amazing 5mx5m and with a sea view and a great shower with a nice comfy bed!||The only negative really is Mancora itself which is filled with many happy and welcoming Peruvians which is great, it's just that the town is very dirty off the main Pan American Highway. When it rains huge Lagoons form with dirty stagnant water and attracts thousands of flies, mosquitos and other horrible itchy biting nuisances. But this is none of Jessica or La Casa De Jessy fault and like I said she will do everything to erradicate this problem the best she can.||I called this review The Grand Peruvian Budapest Hotel because that is exactly what it feels like to stay here! Lovely people, International guests and plenty of interesting momments! A stay at La Casa De Jessy is...
Read moreThis place felt like a combination of a hostel /hotel in that the rooms were separate (hotel) but there was a commmunal kitchen to make your own food and a hangout area in the patio (hostel). However, this combination, in my opinion, doesn't seem to work, as there is a lack of atmosphere in the communal areas, so the chances of meeting and hanging out with other travellers is low. Wifi was horribly slow during my stay, but this seemed to be the problem with the internet company in Piura, as the owner was equally frustrated. Its in close proximity to the beach, but also in close proximity to a bar, so you could hear music all night. Staff and owner are both (yes there are only two people working there) very friendly. They even accommodated the fact that i sleep in and cooked for me when i woke up, even though their breakfast hours are till 10am. Would recommend if you are on a budget, are a couple, and have no problem sleeping with music in...
Read moreWe arrived at am with the nightbus from Equador and we were just given our room and could sleep a little, the administration was done after we rested. Jessy(the owner) could speak quite good english and breakfeast was included. The beach is also just a 5 minute walk away. She gave us really good advise for dinner(e.g. la mosca en la sopa) and there was even a fridge in our room. There were also a lot of roofed hammocks and a outdoor shower to wash our feet when we came back from the beach(there was of course a perfectly fine shower in our room as well)|They washed our stuff here and she organized a surfing teacher for us and gave us tips how to best visitthe sights around town(swimming with turtles etc.)|In the end we could even stay in our room 'til evening because our bus left at night and weren't charged any aditional fees.|All in all I would really recomend...
