I'm from Lima, the capital of Perú in the coast area (quite deserted) ; eventually I visited the highlands and also the amazon area of Perú (which is actually the biggest area in the country though much more importance has traditionally been given to either the coast or highland areas as Cuzco). I found the most beautiful landscapes and nice weather in the amazon area particularly in the subtropical rainforest area, a bit higher than the amazon basin (way to hot for me) near the city of Tarapoto (taris as we abbreviate it locally) a higher area called 'Lamas' is by far one of the best I've found being not so warm as other jungle areas as it is around 900 meters above sea level (temperature and weather zones in Perú are directly related to altitude) . Patarashca hotel is one of the few that give you the 'rainforesty atmosphere', others unfortunately seem to believe that the visitor coming from a big city want to feel as if they had not traveled out of their towns.... Patarashca on the much clever side offers the feeling of being in the middle of the rainforest while being only blocks from the city´s main square. It comprises not only the Hotel but also one of the finest restaurants on town (for typical food) and a great cultural bar/cafeteria called Suchiche, so it´s a great place to stay and begin falling in love with the nicest but neglected area of Perú, a country with more than 15 thousand years...
Read moreHello.||||I almost never post on this site. But this time I decided to say all the good that I think about La Patarashca.||||We were confined beause of the COVID to the hotel on March 15 with my autistic 5 year old daughter.|| ||The hotel is magnificent: a house block hides a lush garden. The restaurant is just one of the best restaurants in town. The rooms are nice, the beds very good.||||But if I decide to post today, it is to thank the whole team of the hotel who was incredible kind during this crisis. I also want to thank Nicolas the chef who managed to cook great dishes for the last 4 customers confined to the hotel. I also want to thank Cindy the owner of the hotel who took care of us 4 really kindly.||||||We stayed 20 nights in the hotel before rapatriation flight to Belgium.||It was complicated and stressful for me, I thought that we were going to be fed. Alone with my daughter, I was sometimes a little scared. Luckily I was in this hotel with all these WONDERFUL team. So THANK YOU !! I will come back one day to thank you on palce but with the whole family this time.... NEVER FORGET YOUR HELP||||Julien and...
Read moreThis is our second stay here but we're not going back due to the horrible way they treated us and an employee of theirs at checkout. The personnel here went out of their way to accommodate us the last minute for a weeks stay and ensured we had what we needed at all times. At checkout, they calculated our price wrong (unknown to us) and confirmed twice by two persons all was settled. Later (we stayed for a few more hours) they realized they made a mistake and asked us to pay a difference. We disputed this and they looked at everything and realized they were at fault and told us we don't have to pay the difference as compensation for the inconvenience. Later, we were asked to pay again or an enployee of theirs had to pay from their salary... This is horrible, an employee here can get economically responsible for being serviceminded and loyal to ensure we'd come back. In the end, we payed up to save the employee from the punishment. They actually made sure we felt that it was us who punished the employee and not them. Worst experience at...
