Just had two nights in this beautiful place with Isaac and Gladys, Isaac picked us up in his boat with Gladys and Son and took us to his wonderful floating island. It's amazing you step onto the spongey reeds that make up the islands and then you have the pretty modern looking accommodation amongst the locals reed huts. The room is very comfortable big bed with loads of blankets and duvets it was 6°c overnight in march but lovely and warm in bed. Views are really amazing. I had read their was no phone reception which we looked forward to cut off from world but our phones both had signal. First day we just chilled on balcony watching locals net fishing and just taking in the fantastic setting Gladys cooked a meal for us in the evening. Breakfast was very good all delivered to the room. Then a few hours with Isaac first to his fishing nets for sardines and then a boat trip round the islands with him talking about the islands and Uros life then lunch in an island restaurant. I would totally recommend a stay lovely lovely people. It's not like a hotel though it's a compost toilet put some sand on it and the islands get cold overnight there's a heater but you need a couple of layers on. But what a experience a night or two on Lake Titicaca on a floating reed island once in a lifetime...

We travel quite a lot but truly have never met such kind and sincere people. Also, the lodge is extremely nice and clean. There are everything one needs, plus if you need anything, Isaac and his family make sure that you are taken care of.
Breakfast and luch is served in the lodge and for the lunch, we travelled to a neighbor island. Also a fishing trip and an island tour was included in our stay. During those times, Isaac explained us about the island and the history of Uros.
Nice to have in mind: During the night, the weather gets really cold, but, there is a heater in the lodge, and many thick blankets. Also they brought us hot-water bottle each, which was really nice.
And one plus tip: Isaacâs lovely wife Gladys makes wonderful embroideries and Isaac himself very nice decorative objects from straw. You can ask them to show them to you and buy some extremely beautiful gifts.
Donât miss the opportunity to have this unique experience with such...
Read moreIsaac and Gladys are absolutely the sweetest people in the world. Unfortunately me and my husband do not speak Spanish but Isaac took us around the Uros islands with his boat and explained us using google translator how the Uros islands are made and how they work. We also took the trip to Taquile island and Isaac dropped us off and picked us up from the tour starting point. The room is very big and clean. You have your own bathroom with shower. It gets cold in the islands during the night and it was lovely that Isaac and Gladys gave us some hot water bottles to keep us warmer during the night. If you go to Puno and want to have a bit of an adventure, I strongly suggest you to book a room and stay on Isaacâs island. Uros islands are absolutely beautiful and Isaacâs and Gladysâ unique way of life so interesting and their attitude towards life so heartwarming! Thank you so much for this once in a lifetime...
