Really disapointed. Luis had a baby a few days before our arrival and did not warn us in advance that we would not be able to enjoy Uros Island as planned.
We originally wanted to share the life of an Uros family, as described in the many comments on Airbnb. But we found ourselves alone most of the time. On an island like Uros, we are totally dependent on our host (the island is only a few meters long). Only his father took us for a little boat ride, and dropped us off at a restaurant that tried to make us pay double the price, claiming an error when we asked for the details of the bill...
At nightfall, we still didn't have our room (although the check-in is at 3pm), and the house Luis lent us in the meantime didn't allow us to sleep (as the beds belong to his family), nor to shower as there was no water for several hours. This uncertainty led us to cancel our reservation and go somewhere else, without refund...
I understand completely that Luis could not provide a normal service. The birth of a child is more important than tourists. I just wish I had been notified before we arrived because there were so many similar accommodations available on Uros. We proposed to Luis that he refund us one night out of the 2, which he refused. All he cares about is making money, don't expect to have an honest experience of life on...
Read moreAs a host in a private island, guests should be informed clearly what options are available for transportation to get to the island. I asked the host specifically and he only offered his private service, which is great, but when I asked about a public boat option he didn’t help providing clarity that public boats do not reach his island. While it is not a requirement for him to provide this info, it is greatly appreciated as a tourist. As a result, I was unable to get to the island and lost my two...
