Alright, I'll start by saying that the family who runs this place is incredibly kind...but after reading all the positive reviews I feel compelled to write a warning for other travelers since all the other reviewers seem to overlook certain things! First, you need to take a taxi out to what is basically a trash dump where they pick you up, you'll need a way to coordinate with them in Spanish via cell phone prior. Don't mind the dog fights at the pickup location. Second, the rooms are very basic with only one light and no other electricity. There are plenty of blankets, but forget hanging out outside of your bed without your winter jacket on. Third, there is no plumbing. You LITERALLY have an outhouse in your room!!! And since the outhouse door isn't designed to close all the way, you smell it! Your outhouse has NO running water. You get 2 bottles of water in your outhouse when you arrive that is also your drinking water. Fourth, I arrived at 7 pm starving, so I got the dinner there. There is no menu, you just get whatever they're making and you have no way of getting any other food. They served a huge plate of meat and veggies with a sauce on it, but since I'm vegetarian they just gave me a child sized portion of steamed veggies and a few pieces of potato with no seasoning, oil, spices, butter, nothing!! Went to bed hungry and disgusted and left early the next morning, cancelling my second night. Saw a bunch of white tourists on the other island weaving grass with a bunch of other white tourists on my boat ride out of there and had to roll my eyes. Sorry folks, but they're spending their days entertaining you for money. This isn't some special authentic experience, they want your money! If you're the kind of traveler who gets a high from being uncomfortable, and thinks tourist traps are authentic experiences with locals you'll...

Since you have no way of eating elsewhere, your total price will become about 50% higher, so quite pricey for basic and not impressive meals. We were quite annoyed by that. Also, at the end of your stay you will be crowded by the family and other residents to sell you woven goods. It's an aggressive selling style (constantly shouting at you) which was in great contrast with the otherwise relaxed atmosphere during our stay, and was quite uncomfortable to us. No fun at all, spoiling total experience!|Finally, all depending on your expected level of comfort, but be aware that the rooms will be very cold (in fairness you do get 6 blankets! :-)), camping toilet and no shower, so hygiene was challenging;-) but this is something to be expected. | On a plus side, unique experience staying with Wilber and his family. The activities, especially the boat trip on Lake Titicaca is something not to be missed, however I would recommend to take a boat trip from Puno, much cheaper and probably the same...
