A very disappointing stay. Do not recommend and would not return. I donât frequently write reviews but this one had to be written to give a realistic and honest account of our experience.
The area is very old and not well maintained. Our big family stayed across multiple units in Carola, Jacana & Myna and all the buildings had multiple issues including:
-broken tiles and flooring along multiple hallways -leaking roof from the rain which would cause puddles on tiles, which caused the kids to slip several times, it was quite hazardous. -elevators worked intermittently, we were with seniors who were forced several times to walk up stairs for 3-6 floors -hot water would turn off randomly so you were forced to take cold showers -bad smelling elevators, smell like cockroach and kulob -the age, condition & ipis in some units were so bad 2 families had to rebook alternate units
Beach -the sand is so hard and compact, perhaps due to rainy season⌠it felt like walking on soil with 1cm of sand on top. The sand is dark, with black underneath. It is not white, and not fine to the touch - your kids look like they have been playing in dirt not sand. -rubbish like plastic bottles and wrappers keep washing in from the sea. I know this happens partly due to the rain but you canât help but feel the water isnât clean and wonder why you paid P1400 entrance fee to find a dirty beach full of rubbish -the first 3-4 meters from the shore into the water is full of shells and rocks, it is so sore on the feet, you need aqua shoes to bear it. -there were tiny jellyfish and a couple of people in our group got stung including a small child.
Country Club -pool is nice with plenty of shallow areas for kids -literally everything needs to be paid for except the gym and pool. Having paid P1400, and given the condition of the beach, the age and look of the place, it just didnât feel right to pay extra for amenities -multiple things we wanted to play or use were broken when we visited: the volleyball net (they have only one), so we couldnât play volleyball, the table tennis table (they have only one), so we couldnât play table tennis, the pump for the ball (they have only one), the vending machines (so we couldnât buy snacks - and there is no convenience store in the âresortâ). -the games and amenities close at 8pm so you arenât free to utilise the things you paid for or want to pay for at your leisure
Service -the shuttle bus service is pretty lame and not flexible - when we were there it was pouring rain at times and they did not add additional services, still 1 shuttle only so you have to wait what feels like forever, and have no other options to get around, and no umbrellas to borrow -the paths donât make sense. Rather than a direct path from the buildings to the beach they make the paths wind around a lake so it turns a 2 min walk into a 10 min walk for no real reason. Same with the pool area back to the buildings, there is no proper signage. It just feels⌠messy -the service people are polite but donât seem to really do much - eg. if you ask the guards about the shuttle theyâll just tell you to walk out to the road and wait for however long until the shuttle arrives. They donât even have walkie talkies to communicate with each other to give you an estimate location or time -we arrived at 5pm on the last day of long weekend holiday and took more than 1 hour to check in (so 6pm) but they still charged us all the holiday rate (P1400 per person instead of P1000 per person), even though it was literally evening already and knowing the condition of the area given the rainy season⌠having completed our stay, we couldnât believe they charged us the extra P400 per adult (we had a group of 30+) given how poor the facilities and experience turned out to be
People in our party who have been to resorts such as in Boracay said Pico was such a disappointment by comparison in every regard. Itâs a shame because our family was looking forward to a nice stay and we could have just gone to Tagaytay or similar which would have been much...
Read moreWe had our family outing and staycation here last October of 2022; we booked 4 rooms for around 15 pax.
It was a bit pricey I would say, although its location was very private and serene, good for group or family outing or for couple wanted to escape crowded beach and resort. Their lobby was not bad nor something with grandeur or lavishing dĂŠcor.
We were greeted by their nice staff upon our arrival and checking in was a really slow not sure because we are a huge group or rooms are still being clean upon our arrival, so we decided to take our lunch at one of their restaurants at the lobby â Food was nice though really pricey againđ
So while waiting for our rooms to be ready I had chance to see their surroundings and amenities we can use. They have very nice greenery and landscape at the back of the hotel with a huge lake and bridge where you can take photos, they also have nice and huge swimming pools, one of which is for the kids and the other is an infinity pool for adults. Rooms, was not fascinating but not too bad (just anormal room), it was clean and tidy but a bit smell of an old rood (bearable I would say), their room is equipped with a good air conditioning which is really important especially if its summerđ
So over all ambiance of their hotel lobby and rooms was very basic and just normal.
Now, we have access at their private beach, part of what we paid for, where all of my family members tried to see and enjoy â its still a five minutes walk from the hotel or you can take their free shuttle going back and forth to the beach from the hotel - so the beach sand was brown but very fine, while water at the beach was ok, it was darkish brown but very clean.
Also, have another restaurant at the pool side of the hotel where its really nice to have dinner, good food, good ambiance, and very friendly staff â again its pricey heređ
Our overall family experience was okay, great hospitality by their staff with just basic rooms and amenities but wonderful surroundings and...
Read moreWe went here on Aug. 14-16 with my family and relatives. For me, the long drive just to be here is not worth it. Yes, their pools are nice, and the sunset and view are beautiful but the beach water is not good, especially when it rained (it rained every night during our stay), the water in the beach is brown and leafy. There are no nearby outside restaurants so if you didnât bring food to cook, youâll be stuck eating in their restaurants. The food on both their restaurants - Lagoa and Pico Restaurants and Bar is expensive and not worth your money because it doesnât taste good. And the service in Lagoa is BAD. Takes too long to prepare food, employees like chitchatting, they donât go to your table to get orders unless you call them, and seems like they canât handle more than 20 people in their restaurants. The rooms are owned to different people, so it depends on the cleaner of the owner on how clean your rooms will be. My family stayed in Myna A 109, the rooms is clean, it has water in the dispenser, it has refrigerator - the wire shelf in the freezer though was rusty, and the bedsâ mattress are thin and cheap I can feel the frame when lying down. And the mattress and pillows are stinky, like they have been wet and were not dried properly. And the water in our bathroom was dirty. It was light brown even after running. I would post a photo of the water but no option to attach a photo in this review. So all in all, itâs not worth...
