I stayed at Don Felipe Hotel many times in 2015. It was always my first choice for an ocean view room. The hotel has the Best View And Best Location of any hotel in Ormoc! Sitting on the balcony of your Ocean View room, eating a room service breakfast, is a real treat I enjoyed!|Don Felipe Hotel is conveniently located across the street from the ferry Pier and the bus terminal. You can catch the Ocean Jet ferry to Cebu, or the Super Cat to other island locations.|Rooms are large, with AC and mini-fridge. Drop you Laundry at the front desk, as Laundry service is available at very low cost.| Go next door to Lorenzo's Cafe and sit on the patio for a pleasant dining experience.|Mercury Drug is located right behind the hotel, for all your toiletries, bottled water, and snacks. |McDonald's is in walking distance, several blocks away, and Jollibee's is a few blocks farther. You need to get a tricycle to go to Gaisano Shopping Center.|Don Felipe is an older hotel that could use some upgrades. |In an ocean view room, you will experience some traffic noise. For a quieter stay, try a City View room. But then there's no view!|They also have some very cheap rooms in an additional wing on the first floor. I stayed in one of these rooms when the hotel was full, and no ocean view rooms were available. These rooms are small and not recommended, but they suffice if you just need a place to sleep.|I always enjoyed my stay at Don Felipe, and it is still my number one choice to stay in Ormoc, because of the view and the...
Read moreThis looks like one of the first hotels in the city and it shows. While they have upgraded the elevators, the rooms are still old style although that may not necessarily be a bad thing altogether. Basic accommodation, if it comes to that and the hotel will surely benefit from some upgrade. My major complaint is there is no bidet in the toilet and the flush doesn't work well. It takes some effort to "take care of business." And considering that they seem to be among the hotel pioneers in Ormoc, the staff doesn't seem well-trained. The receptionist was not around when we checked out and the waiter in the restaurant doesn't even ask for your room number so they have no idea if your booking has breakfast included. The food was not spectacular either. The staff has an air of complacency and does not initiate to help you with anything. Overall, it's a passable place to stay and they are quite fortunate to have secured the most scenic spot and strategic location in the city (adjacent to bus terminals, port, and dining spots) which is quite helpful and convenient for tourists. It is recommendable but don't...
Read moreI leave this review as a foreigner visiting from the USA staying here for 8 nights. The price is right for what you get. The balcony views are nice of the seapark and port, you get to see all the "hubub". If you need something fancy, this isn't for you but its just fine for me at $27 usd a night. My only real complaint is that my room ac is trying really hard to keep the room at a temperature i wont sweat and i wouldn't say it makes the room "cool" but much more bearable than not having ac for sure. Oh,wish the hotel restuarant served cocktails also. Staff is nice. Close to port, bus station and plenty of trikes to take you wherever you wish. Plenty of local eats and activities in the area. A supermarket close by and a 24/7 convenience store a 30 second walk away. Walk along the ocean east to the local BBQ,where the locals eat after work. The food is excellent and the price is very fair. Kick back, have a redhorse and chat with...
