Sutuwaki (SUgba, TUwa, Kilaw) — Restaurant in Ormoc

We believed this is the best seafood restaurant in Ormoc. What an unpleasant surprise! The restaurant was fairly empty with only two other tables occupied. The waiter could not bother to take our order. We had to call him, twice, to approach us. He was not familiar with many items on the menu. Note that most of the seafood dishes have no prices listed on them. We ordered appetizers and butter shrimp. The dynamite chilies and onion rings were acceptable but the oil used seemed on the verge of going rancid. The butter shrimp was a hot dry mess of deep fried garlic shreds and whole shrimp. Perhaps they sprinkled butter flakes on it but one could not detect it. We had to remind the waiter to bring out the rice we ordered with the meal. The butter shrimp was big enough for 3-4 people but the waiter never told us that we could customize the size of the dish. The final insult was the refusal to bring the credit card terminal to the dining table. Instead, we had to walk all the way to the other end of the restaurant and pay the counter. One works expect a restaurant that pretends to be high end would at least try to emulate high end...

I don't even understand why people still come here. And why we came here. It wasn't the best dine out experience.

Service. Totally horrible. Their staff were very friendly just like anyone else in Ormoc but they really need proper training. When serving water, at least they should pour it into the diners' glasses. They didn't need to be ask for refill of water, this is a standard in a serviced restaurants. Taking orders wasn't a nice experience too. They should have informed us beforehand the items which were not available and should offer suggestions.

Utensils. Dirty with water stains and something else I didn't want to think what.

Food. Mediocre at its best. Boring, bland, almost tasteless. I am not a chef but I could cook better food, much better.

Rented the venue space for a celebration. Food order was placed a week in advance. Upon arrival at the start time, not all of the food was ready. I understand culturally, guests don’t show up at the exact time, but as the caterer, everything should be prepared and ready for the start time.

Over an hour after the start, we were informed that one of the food items selected, wasn’t available. If we did want it, they could make it but it would be 1.5 hours until it was ready, at which time everyone would’ve been finished eating. I elected to just cancel it and make it the 3 course package. This was the disappointing part of the experience. Fortunately, I’m a patient person but future customers may not be as understanding.
