We stayed at Bohol tropics for 2 nights… I will try to summarize my overall experience with the resort.
Front desk: The lobby looks really good, they were putting up Christmas decors during that time and though it wasn’t finished the overall place is good. The personnel at the front desk is accommodating… as they try to be I guess. But I observed that they don’t have that “pleasing personality” which is needed for this particular field. They don’t smile at all…. and is not friendly compared to other hotels or resort front desks that I am able to experience. I find that strange and displeasing… We were not from Bohol so we don’t speak the dialect, we were speaking in Tagalog most of the time… as I was approaching, no one acknowledged me. They will just look at you like you are a stranger. Quite weird experience hahaha so while trying to communicate our needs, they weren’t nodding at all? Idk I am just particular with these gestures.
Food: Foods at Cafe Anatacio are really delicious, no questions asked. The view is kinda nice too! But again…. the personnel😭😭 I went to the cafe to eat lunch, you know those other cafes or restaurant who will greet you with a smile and lead you for a good place to sit and immediately tend to you?? I didn’t experience that at all…. they will literally just look at you and you still need to go to the counter for them to acknowledge you and give you the menu… like whattttt? No smile, no “enjoy your meal”, I didn’t feel welcome at all. The food was good, the place was good… but the people made my supposed to be 5/5 rating to be at only 2/5. As a tourist, I think the way you feel at a certain place where tourists are catered is very important… it will make or break the overall experience.
Housekeeping service: 10/10 This is my most favorite. When I asked them to make up our room, when I returned it was so clean and smells really good. They even gave us new set of towels and hygiene stuff. I was so happyyy.
Overall ambiance: The views are so nice… the way rooms and villas are positioned is so well planned I guess. The streets are clean and the plants and trees makes the whole place a very scenic place. It felt like I was in the US! The way the villas are designed and the materials used looks really sturdy and built with precision. It looked really good in pictures. They even have a harbor view where you can see the pier and boats travelling…. you can really smell that salty sea breeze whenever you go out. Hahaha
Buffet Experience: 6/10 It’s just a normal daily Filipino breakfast. Hehe eggs, tocino, chorizo, cereals, coffee, fruits… the good thing is it’s unlimited of course but I was quite disappointed since I was imagining we’ll have a lot of choices like in a hotel… but that’s just a faulty thinking on my side. I would give the taste of the foods 9/10.
People: I guess I talked much about them already hahaha, but I guess that’s just some of the people in Bohol are ya know…. not generalizing cause I have only been in an isolated place. Maybe I am just so used in Bacolod where everyone is just so accommodating, friendly and really does have that pleasing personality whenever you approach them from stores to restaurants to hotels. A big shout out to Kuya Guard who helped me with a baggage that I need to bring to my room…. that’s the only time I felt the “kindness” like a tangible one.
Anyways, It was a good experience overall regardless of the negative things. It still depends on someone who chooses to...
Read moreI stayed in this hotel for 3 days with my family. We are family visiting to PH again and first time visiting bohol so we decided to stay in tropics because it is just walking distance from the port and accessible to lots of establishments. We booked 5 rooms total during our stay. For our first night the AC wasn’t working in one of our rooms, we called a front desk and sent us 3 different people saying to wait and see if it works. We decided to explore bohol and left our room and the AC on for a while. After our walk, we went back to the room and the AC is still not working we decided to call the front desk and ask for a fan instead because it is already late and it is very inconvenient to us to move rooms, take not they already sent us 3 different people before hand if they are willing to listen to our concern, the first time we said our concern they should have moved us rooms. They had 3 chances to do that but they keep insisting to “wait” for it to cool down. We left the resort the next day went back the day after. As soon as we arrived 3 of my family members heard their staff talking behind our back, saying that “mao na sila dapat tapad na sila og rooms kay mag reklamo na pd na sila”. I am very disappointed hearing that from them. We paid the right amount, we didn’t even bother to complain about our issue on the day one, we didn’t yell nor speak bad about the staffs and the resort and yet hearing that from them is very disappointing. We spoke to one of the housekeeping personnel kuya lito and told him about our concerns and how me and my family are embarrassed and scared to asked anything from the staffs working them because we feel like we are “bothering” them or us being “maarte”. Kuya Lito is the only staff that made us feel welcome and heard, he does care for the resort and it’s guests experience are surpassed. I hope management will take actions about their...
Read moreOn and off, I've lived in Bohol area for over 3 years and sampled many of the restos here. Located within Bohol Tropics is Cafe' Atanacio which is in my top-3 list of restos when it comes to food quality, ambiance, and a reasonable price in all of Tagbilaran.
RESTAURANT: The menu is wide with a variety of international foods as well as Filipino dishes. I really enjoyed the pulled-pork sandwich, which was hearty and made with fresh-baked bread. Their chicken chop suey was also very tasty as well as their 3-mushroom entree.
The prices are very reasonable, roughly 300p/entree. And even midday there is a nice ocean breeze from the coast below, making outdoor dining under the shade structure very comfortable. Nicely decorated and very good service.
Overall, Cafe' Atanacio at Bohol Tropics Resort offers a very peaceful, quiet, place to relax.. have a good meal and enjoy the view.
They also have a breakfast buffet (6am - 10am) for about 500p, however it is free/included if staying as a guest. The breakfast buffet is a bit basic with 2 types of rice, eggs, sweet chorizo, a fish dish, cereal and assorted cut fruit.
THE ROOMS: There are over 100 rooms available and we easily got one with a view of the ocean. the grounds are well-kept and there are three swimming pools available, one of which has a waterfall. There is an observation deck on the shore that is very nice to visit any time of day, but most especially at sunset.
Large shower heads with plenty of hot water and water pressure, so that's a huge plus in my book. Restroom was larger than most hotels I've been to. Beds were firm memory foam and the room nicely decorated. Plenty of quality pillows as well.
All in all, Bohol Tropics is a favorite for my wife and I in the Bohol, Tagbilaran area. Will definitely...
