Hotel „Kongresowy” — Hotel in Kielce

We had a sad family event to attend, and needed comfortable family accomodation in Kielce arranged urgnelty - for the next day. The rooms in all available hotels looked quite unappealing on the internet, and I remembered Kongresowy back from a dinner at the restaurant there in 1997. No rooms were available on-line, but I phoned them and the lady on the reception managed to find one for us - we were promised a large corner room with twin beds and a convertible sofa.||||We arrived and we were very positively surprised. The room was very large (I would say twice the size of a typical hotel room, decorated in a nice traditional style which we like, with good quality furniture (actually much better than what European hotels have to offer - more resemblant of the solid US-style). The bathroom was huge and very comfortable for the family to acomodate all our mess. We were served dinner at 10 pm without any problem and the children were imporessed by a living toucan and turtheles in the restaurant (I must say it lost a bit of character compared to 1997 or perhaps my standards have changed). Breakfast were great. We asked for a kettle and iron and the recptionist handed the items to us without immediately.||||I travel a lot on business everywhere in the world and stay at least 40 nights per year in various hotels, mostly in the US but also in Europe and other parts of the world. Kielce is a city which is rather run down and underinvested especially when you compare to Western world (I was born and grew up there, and lived there until 1984. It was always sort of a very provincial city, even though located within a beautiful natural surrounding, and there are quite a few interesting places there.) But this hotel is not. It actually beats many business hotels elsewhere, as it offers decent quality without the unnecessary bells and whistles. Especially when you travel with the family and need to fit 4 people in one unit.||||We stayed three nights. The service was great, each morning the room was made clean and tidy immediately while were having breakfast. This was quite amazing.||||The only shortcomings are the lack of any fitness centre (for me - there is a small gym in the spa & beauty institute, but this is for women to use with some beauty therapies and not for proper workout), the lack tissues in the bathroom (for my wife), and a swimming pool (for my children). If you watch TV, you won't be happy either. But wireless internet is obviously free and...

Wraz z grupą koleżanek i kolegów spędziliśmy kilka dni w tym hotelu w związku z konferencją naukową, która odbywała się w odległym o 200 m budynku uniwersyteckim. Pod tym względem hotel był bardzo wygodny. Drugi plus to duży (i bezpłatny) parking. Z innymi sprawami było już gorzej - w kilku pokojach nie było ciepłej wody, a w jednym nie było w ogóle wody w kabinie prysznicowej. W mojej łazience była wanna (z hydromasażem, co należy zaliczyć na plus, ale był to apartament), lecz nie dało się w niej zakręcić korka, w związku z czym woda wylewała się do rury odpływowej. Niestety, gdy chciałam umyć się chociaż pod prysznicem, także okazało się to niemożliwe, bo nie dało się go włączyć - bolec, który go uruchamiał, został w mojej dłoni. Zgłosiłam to recepcjonistce, która zaproponowała mi udostępnienie łazienki w innym pokoju. Odmówiłam (nie miałam ochoty paradować o 22.30 w szlaforku po korytarzu, a przecież chciałam się umyć też następnego dnia rano) i domagałam się naprawienia uszkodzonych urządzeń. W końcu pojawił się konserwator -- bardzo miły, dzięki niemu będę miała choć jedno dobre wspomnienie z pobytu. Bo poza tym: w moim pokoju (w salonie) nie było dostępu świeżego powietrza, gdyż okno wychodziło na patio, w którym jest restauracja (w stylu palmiarni) zadaszona pleksiglasem (co nie tylko pozbawiało jej świeżego powietrza, ale i wygląda okropnie, głównie dlatego, że widać na nim brud). Poza tym: musiałam sama dźwigać do pokoju deskę do prasowania; gdy spytałam, czy w hotelu jest prasowalnia, dowiedziałam się, że jest, ale trzeba za nią płacić. Poza tym: w moim apartamencie była kuchnia, ale nie było czajnika. W sypialni nie działał telewizor, a w tym, który był w salonie, były jedynie stacje oferujące słabą rozrywkę, nie było natomiast programów informacyjnych (np. TVN24). Gniazdka elektryczne były umieszczone w takich miejscach, że podłączony do nich kabel (np. ładowarki) nie sięgał stolika. No i pamiątka z hotelu, która pozostała mi na kilkanaście dni: PLUSKWY. Zostałam pogryziona w nocy - na dłoniach, szyi i ramieniu oraz stopach i łydkach. Po powrocie do domu konsultowałam ugryzienia u dermatologa, który orzekł, że to nic innego jak pluskwy (użądlenia komara mają inny wygląd i inaczej się zachowują po kilku dniach). Okazało się też, że to samo spotkało jeszcze dwie moje koleżanki śpiące w innych pokojach. Dalej: w dniu, w którym nie mieliśmy zamówionej kolacji w hotelowej restauracji (trzeba przyznać, że była bardzo smaczna), zamknięto ją przed godz. 20.00. Śniadania były dość smaczne, ale kawa z ekspresu ohydna, a na dodatek słodzona, o czym goście nie zostali poinformowani (a powinni byli być). Jeśli chodzi o wystrój hotelu i restauracji, to pomieszczenia są schludne, ale dość tandetne - odzwierciedlają wyobrażenie o luksusie, jakie panowało na przełomie lat 80. i 90. (marmury, lustra na sufitach - na szczęście tylko w restauracji itd.). Za plus należy zaliczyć bardzo staranne i miłe panie sprzątające. Ogólnie jednak...

My wife and I stayed at this hotel for 3 nights (13/10/06 - 16/10/06). We were staying in Kielce as we were attending a wedding (not in the this hotel). The hotel staff made us feel very welcome as did all Polish people that we met. The room was on the top floor and was very comfortable. We had a city view. The restaurant where we had breakfast was bright and relaxing and the food on offer was superb. The hotel was full on the Friday when we arrived as this property appears to have a lot of conferences and exhibitions. The occupancy levels for Saturday and Sunday were not as high. The hotel is located near a large Shopping Centre (named Echo I think) and had an excellent range of shops. I would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. We had a very enjoyable time in Kielce even though our time was limited. Hotel Kongresowy...
