HI Arrifana Destination Hostel — Hotel in Aljezur

Our family visits HI Arrifana Destination Hostel regularly, and every time feels like coming home. The staff—especially Diogo, Sam, Dona Isabela, and the rest of the team—are absolutely incredible. They’re not just friendly, they go above and beyond in every interaction, making you feel genuinely welcomed and cared for. It’s rare to experience such outstanding customer service, and it’s a huge part of what keeps us coming back.

The location is perfect—just a short distance from the beach, with beautiful surroundings and a laid-back, peaceful vibe. It's also animal-friendly, which is a huge bonus for us. Being able to bring our dog along and feel completely at ease makes our trips even more enjoyable.

A couple of areas could use a bit of attention: the internet connection isn’t nearly as fast or reliable as advertised, which is especially noticeable given that the hostel promotes a workspace with 300+ Mb/s speeds. Additionally, the shared kitchen could use a little TLC—some maintenance and upgrades would go a long way in improving the overall guest experience.

That said, these are small things in the grand scheme. The warmth, community, and atmosphere here make HI Arrifana Destination Hostel a truly special place. We always look forward to...

An amazing hostel to stay whether you are surfing for the week or need a place to stay for a trek. I really loved the facilities from the pool, rooftop deck (superb views and sunsets), co-working, restaurant bar, and mini kitchen. It really has everything you need to be comfortable and happy. Parking is also located in the back, which is very nice. And they host many events throughout the week, from live music to rooftop yoga.

But the best part is the staff really goes over and beyond for you! Big shout-outs to Ana (who made me delicious coffee) and Emilia/Javier (who served me amazing bar drinks and food). Milena, Damian, and Daniela at the front desk were also very kind and helpful. And the cleaning ladies were so hardworking and fun to speak with.

Daniela constantly went over and beyond for me, so BIG BIG thank you to her. She helped with laundry, getting a taxi, and overall check in at the hostel. She is a star ⭐️

I will be hiking on the Rota Vicentina in October and wanted to book a room at the hostel for one night. I had already stayed there twice in the last few years. The double room cost around 70 euros each time. ||||This time, the same room was supposed to cost between 810,00 and 999.99 euros on different websites. ||||Somehow this seemed too expensive, so I wrote to the organisation via their facebook page. There they told me to send an email to Destination Hostels. I did this three times and every time received the message: "Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender". ||||I then wrote to Destination Hostels again via Messenger and got no reply. ||||I understand that in times of Covid-19, accommodation companies work with greatly reduced staff, but here there doesn't seem to be the slightest interest in overnight guests! ||||Since there is limited accommodation near Arrifana Beach, I will probably order a taxi there now and go straight to the next starting point of the...
