Went yesterday to reserve a villa for what could have been many days. My wife & I went to the main restaurant with our small dog in a trolley/pusset & had a drink. Then spoke to the gentlemen at reception & were about to book. After I asked, he initially said no dogs allowed anywhere in the hotel, then mentioned he would organise for the restaurant so we could eat in the alfresco area with our dog. No problem & wise compromising move. Then he was overruled by the woman on reception & then the Manager.
They advertise on booking.com that it is pet-friendly. This is not the case. Suggest avoiding (even if you have a small dog in a dog trolley). Dogs are not allowed anywhere. Misleading indeed and I suggest booking.com remove the description.
Such a 'policy' & misleading feature on booking.com has cost the hotel about 3 months revenue for a villa plus restaurant dining, as we were looking for a place to stay while we purchase a multi-million € property in the area. Needless to say we will not be using any hotel facilities even as a nearby resident.
Its just not smart business to not even allow dogs up to say 10kg. This is the policy at 5 star hotels throughout France, Italy and some in Spain. Appears some Portugese businesses say no to considerable revenue. Strange...
Read moreWe stayed here for a month. The place is really expensive, especially on Portugal. I do not think we would normally be staying here but it was all paid by my husband’s employer.
We had everything we needed here- fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances, washer, broom, mop and basic cleaning supplies so we weren’t dependent on housekeeping. Housekeeping comes 1-2 times a week which might be a problem for some, for us it was prefect. We do not enjoy everyday banging on the door, we value privacy and conditions similar to staying home- which we had here. The villas don’t look impressive from the outside but they are cozy and modern in the inside. Loved the fireplace and the terrace.
The gardeners are very friendly and there are also several cats roaming around that we befriended during our stay. Our favorite cat was the black tomcat who was coming to visit us all the time…. I can’t even say how much we miss that cat. We came back to villas twice to find him but we weren’t successful.
There were some things that we didn’t like about the place, but considering the fact we stayed for a month and overall had such an enjoyable stay, it is not even worth mentioning. In general I was satisfied with the villa, I would recommend staying here, in fact, if I could I...
Read moreI had a great stay here. We experienced a welcoming check-in with instructions on how to get to the villas. They weren't that hard to find especially if you observe the map provided and use google maps at the same time. One con is that there is not a great deal of parking space and it is a bit more rustic looking so the paths could get pretty muddy during rainy times. It's not horrible, just not overly landscaped and adorned. For that reason, someone with difficulty walking might find the path to further back villas hard to maneuver. It is a hike form the hotel to the villas so don't expect to just walk across the street. A car is definitely recommended due to limited walkability. You can walk, it just won't be close or with sidewalks. Once you get over those few things, it's a beautiful and comfortable space to enjoy with family. It is well appointed with everything you need to cook or even just store light snacks while still having access to nearby restaurants and delivery. The WiFi worked well for us and my son was doing his online college courses while we were traveling. If you want peace and tranquility in a country setting, then this is perfect. I would definitely...
