Disappointing Experience at Onofre
Reheated Food, Not Freshly Cooked The food here is reheated rather than freshly cooked, which is unacceptable given their prices.
Disappointing Taste The dishes were bland and did not meet our expectations based on the reviews. Some items, like the square yellow pieces of corn shown in the photo, were inedible and tasted like plastic 🤢
Unexpected Charges Without asking, they brought appetizers and garlic bread, charging us 6 euros. We've lived in Portugal for almost a year and traveled extensively, and have never encountered such high charges for appetizers, even in the most upscale restaurants. This felt deceptive.
Lackluster Atmosphere The atmosphere was unimpressive. We sat on the terrace, which lacked coziness and music. Despite requesting the waiter to open the folding roof in the evening when the sun was down, he refused without explanation.
Conclusion Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant. The food is tasteless and overpriced, they attempt to deceive guests with unexpected charges for appetizers, and the atmosphere is lackluster. We will not...
Read moreAfter reading the menu and the reviews, we came in with high expectations. We ordered the bachalau fumado as a starter, and the porco iberico preto skewer and the arroz de polvo for our main courses.
The bachalau came out shortly and was great. Then we waited, and waited. We started noticing people who came in after us getting their main courses and flagged down the waiter. There was clearly some confusion, but we were told our food would be out shortly. After a while, we checked in again and were told the same. Finally, our food was brought out; one of the couples that came in after us had already eaten and left. The arroz de polvo was really good, but the porco preto was undercooked, and unfortunately some of the pieces served were just unchewable fat.
Clearly, someone forgot to put in our order/forgot to make it. We would have really appreciated someone just saying “sorry” and correcting the oversight properly, but that didn’t happen.
I’m giving them three stars as I’m assuming this is a...
Read moreAfter ordering it took a long time for our drinks and our appetizer to arrive, around 40 mins. Soon appeared our main dishes which were.
The prawns were delicious and well prepared, and the "lapas" were tasty as well.
Sangria was not good, they added mint to the white one and the red one tasted sour.
Picanha was overcooked in my opinion and I think it should have at least 1 side dish, but you have to pay extra even though it's one of the most expensive ones. Which each side dish is 4 euros.
The octopus rice was the best on the menu and the seafood rice was also very good.
The "plumas" of pork, were very tasty but was very lacking, similar to picanha.
The deserts were fresh and tasty
Other than that, customer service was okay and they were friendly enough.
Overall I think for the experience I took, it was overpriced, the food was okay and the...
