We spent a magical Easter (14–18 April) at Quinta de São Pedro de Vir a Corça with our Golden Retriever, Nur—and we couldn’t have asked for a more peaceful, welcoming getaway. The quinta is nestled in a beautifully serene location just below the village of Monsanto, with nature all around and a sense of calm that we deeply appreciated. The grounds are immaculately kept, and the sweet oranges growing on the property were an unexpected delight.
Our hosts, Ingrid and Torsten, were wonderfully attentive—warm, informative, and always up for a lovely chat. Their breakfasts were truly special: lovingly prepared with fresh, local ingredients that made every morning a treat. It’s clear they care deeply about their guests’ experience.
We stayed in Casa do Forno, a charming house with rustic character. While we thoroughly enjoyed it, one practical point to note is that the AC/heat pump is placed quite high—making the mezzanine where the bed is cozy, but the warmth didn’t quite reach the lower level with the sofa and bathroom.
That said, we were more than happy to trade that minor quirk for such a stunning, tranquil setting. Nur was in heaven exploring the grounds and, frankly, didn’t want to leave. Neither did we. Highly recommended for those seeking real immersion in nature, friendly hospitality, and the charm of...
Read moreThe Quinta de S. Pedro Vir-a-Corca is such an idyllic and magical stay. It’s one of those few places on Earth that will summon up the warmest childhood memories, even those that probably never happened. My wife and I booked a night at the Quinta as we wanted to visit Monsanto for the first time. Instead, we were enchanted by the hypnotising sounds and scents of nature, breathtaking landscapes and the Quinta’s ancient history. Two hours in and we totally forgot about our destination – the stunning villa of Monsanto a few hundred meters up the hill. The rustic stone buildings were respectfully recovered to their past glory and beauty while providing all modern-life comforts. Our unforgettable experience was only possible by the friendly welcome of Dulce, our amazing host. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast prepared by Dulce overlooking Portugal’s tallest mountains. The food was delicious and prepared with biodynamic and local produces from the Quinta. Thank you Dulce! Needless to say that we will certainly be...
Read moreIf I could give this place 6 stars, I would. This place is absolutely magical and incredible. My room has two floors and it has everything you need. The bed is very comfy. Peaceful, relaxing, spacious grounds outside with lots of orange, tangerine, lemon and olive trees. Very private. The service and hospitality are absolutely phenomenal. Ingrid, the housekeeper is such an incredible and engaging person. She is eager to learn about you and make your experience unforgettable. The breakfast she served was very tasty. The area is surrounded by medieval/Roman churches and houses. I have 1 regret: not booking to stay here longer. Do yourself a favor and stay at this incredible place for at least 3 days. Visiting a nearby village of Monsanto and staying at Quinta se Sao Pedro were the highlights of my trip to Portugal. I am planning to...
